What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams.
Why? Because, sometimes, smooth and un-challenging music just hits the spot.
Plenty of time for some, (for example), Yello histrionics later.
JJ Cale
Anyway The Wind Blows: The Anthology - CD Rip
MDS post above reminded me that I bought this album about two weeks ago.
This is my first ever album by JJ Cale, so far I am liking what I am hearing.

Now Playing......
Natalie Merchant - The House Carpenter's Daughter
Streaming on TIDAL........ continuing on with Natalie's sweet music.....
Little Walter - Blues Greats.
Sometimes only some great blues harp playing will do, so this one from the daddy of blues harmonica ......... oh, and he could sing too!
After enjoying Green last night, I'm going to follow with the significantly different Rainbow Dome Musick. This is definitely painting with music, rather like a 'cleaned up' Tangerine Dream.
Just finished playing selected tracks from the following albums
Olive - Extra Virgin
and Garbage - Version 2.0
A double album of self penned blues from Mr Rea
Los Lobos - By The Light Of The Moon.
Last one of what has been a low key, relaxing evening.
There's not too much one can say about this '87 album, other than that it has become an essential classic over the years.
First play since I got the NAP500 - yikes! 'New Age Synthesis (Unzipping the Zype)' indeed. This was waiting the 500 for sure. So much presence.
The first track of the latest Nick Woodland set which I think just happens to be the best track on it. His fabulous version of Warren Zevons Play it all Night Long.
Never thought his albums have done him justice as he is a really good live act.
Now Playing.......
Tord Gustavsen - What Was Said
Tord Gustavsen (piano, electronics, synth bass), Simin Tander (voice), and Jarle Vespestad (drums)
Streaming on NAS....... In the mood for some soft and smooth jazz served up by Tord in this sweet trio! Beautiful album and enjoy the music quite a bit......
Another one of the five out of this great set

I think the version on this cd is my favourite of those made by Miles.
A number of ttrax of his up and coming album
A mix of last night and early today's listening.
Harry Allen: Quietly There. Great version of 'Suicide is Painless', a tune Bill Evans played a lot.

Just the job on this lovely warm and sunny May day.
What about being out in the garden? Steve, by the way good choice of music.
Admittedly I'm rescuing the garden after the tenancy ended a week ago, but satisfying to find what lies beneath and think of the many plants there to be enjoyed.
Relaxing now and waiting The the white wine to chill a bit.
Phil
Phil,
I had a few hours on the golf course this morning then back home I put together a light lunch after which I spent a couple of hours tidying in the garden broken up occasionally with some puppy training followed by a walk with him. Made a roast chicken dinner accompanied in the making by copious quantities of over chilled Chardonnay and some music.

Steve,
You have been busy! I managed 6 hours gardening. My good wife had roasted a lovely small lamb joint followed by spotted dick and custard. Beautiful evening sun getting through the walnut which has yet to leaf. I should cut it down because the squirrels steal all the nuts before they are ready to drop.
The Cabernet Sauvignon tasted good. I wil finish it tonight!
Phil
Well done Phil, it would seem that you also had a good and tasty day!
Steve, Last year I made many lift style changes because I had a potential Stage 3a Prostate Cancer diagnosis. No wine or coffee, lots of fruit and lots of gardening. Lost weight and PSA dropped from 13 to 10. Had it removed end of September and it turned out it was Stage 2c and all removed. Made a full recovery now apart from the nerve damage which takes a while.
I now have wine occasionally and espresso after dinner. Music and gardening are important, the later for vitamin D and lower blood pressure. Fund raising pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela (500 Miles) during October.
Phil
Good stuff Phil I'm delighted matters regarding your health are heading in the right direction and that you can once again enjoy wine and coffee, what are you fund raising in aid of in September?
Steve, Thank you. I’m fundraising for the local Prostate Cancer charity that raised £500k to buy the Da Vinci robot. They now buy smaller diagnostic kit for satellite hospitals, and are helping to fund the robots application to kidney, bladder and uterine surgery. There is a great need to raise awareness of the need for earlier diagnosis.
I feel very lucky. I am trying to find a balance between putting something back fulfilment.

I'm still captivated by this album.
Mike, In my youth I used to sing/hum the Beatles and other’s songs just walking along. I only had a small number of LP so I got to know the songs well. Not the same now. It’s very therapeutic to sing. Glad you are feeling the benefits of enjoying this album.
Phil
My favourite reggae album - great music and super production make this album a very enjoyable listen.
Steel Pulse - Handsworth Revolution
A change of listening this morning. And mighty fine it is too.
