On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
There is no justice in life - have not heard this one in ages.
Always worth a listen in my book
Dr. Feelgood - All Through The Night the Box Set CD 2, WAV CD Rip
Great value box set of the Feelgoods, their 1st 4 albums across 2 CDs, then a CD of singles and live/unreleased versions, and a DVD. Listening to their third album Stupidity, which is as good now as it was back 40: years ago, storming R&B with Wilko’s driving guitar, Brilleaux’s vocals and harp being perfect for the music and the rest of the band working superbly with them, as AC/DC would say High Voltage Rock and Roll.
(2000)
Broekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder - Drei
Some very fine Berlin School electronica. Just two live tracks performed in Cologne and Bologna. Wonderful punchy stuff going on with these synthesisers and sequencers.
Paul Bley Trio 'Bebop etc.' - superb recording and a nice end to the evening.
Very interesting avantgarde Jazz combining synths with horn and drums from a member of Jaimie Branch if I got it right
Back to London with Joe Armon-Jones & Maxwell Owin, more beat orientated and relaxing stuff...
One of my favourites at the moment . German hip-hop with pitched vocals and very dope beats. Marsimoto - Verde
Now Playing.........
Carla Bley - Andando el Tiempo
Carla Bley (piano), Andy Sheppard (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone), and Steve Swallow (bass).
Streaming on NAS....... Continuing on with Carla, Andy and Steve and they are still sounding mighty fine!
Sting coming over all Geordie for The Last Ship , his tale of the shipyard closures in Wallsend his home town
Last of the evening
Duke Ellington - Blues in Orbit
Now Playing........
Pat Metheny Group - First Circle
Pat Metheny (synclavier guitar, sitar, slide guitars, guitar, guitar synthesizer), Lyle Mays (trumpet, piano, synthesizer, oberheim, agogo cells, organ), Steve Rodby (bass drum, bass guitar, acoustic bass), Pedro Aznar (glockenspiel, voice, bells, guitar, percussion, whistle), Paul Wertico (drums, field drum, cymbal).
Streaming on NAS........ Keeping with the jazz theme with a little more drums, percussion and of course guitars!
Now playing......
David Holland Quartet - Conference Of The Birds
Dave Holland (bass), Sam Rivers (reeds, flute), Anthony Braxton (reeds, flute), and Barry Altschul (percussion, marimba).
Streaming on NAS......... A walk today with a stop by Golden Oldies and picked up this CD, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. Recorded back in 1972 and still sounding mighty sweet 46 years later!
Burial. Burial
Debut album from 2006. An album that took a few influences from the Underground scenes of the previous 10 - 20 years. Although not a lot before sounds quite so coherent and all of a piece as how this plays as a long player.
Now Playing........
Dave Holland Quartet - Extensions
Dave Holland (double-bass), Steve Coleman (alto saxophone), Kevin Eubanks (guitar), and Marvin Smitty Smith (drums).
Streaming on NAS......... A 1990 release but a recent pickup for me today from Golden Oldies, ripped to NAS and taking out for a spin..... Dave with three new members to his quartet is sounding superb!
John Cougar Mellencamp. Big Daddy. On DMM vinyl from 1989; outstanding SQ and DR. Excellent heartland rock with folksy roots and lyrics full of social commentary.
Tribute to Fela by Bukky Leo. Bandcamp, £4, worth a punt if you like afro-jazz.

This made me smile - the first LP I ever bought! Still have it on vinyl so look forward to reacquainting myself with it in due course.
Didn’t realize it was already on the market will get it tomorrow...
