On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Paul Desmond: Live

^ Thanks for the Ry Cooder reminder, Dave. You've piqued my interest. He was talking about gospel and blues with John Wilson on R4 yesterday.
Chris
Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool, compared to later Miles I forgot how concise these tracks are

Ry Cooder - The Prodigal Son.
Arrived this morning, now ripped and streaming, this album represents a true return to form for Ry, with plenty of that old skool,
heavily distorted, slide guitar playing that he does so well.
Cheers Dave that sounds great, I'm out this afternoon so I'll pick a copy up,looking forwards to a return to form .

Howard Jones - The 12 '' Album,
Having a Rocking Friday afternoon in the office - Playing on Compact Disc

Now playing..........

Elina Duni - Partir
Elina Duni (voice, piano, guitar, and percussion).
Streaming on TIDAL........ Taking this album out for a 2nd spin. A beautiful voice and a talented musician.

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath.
Indulging in a spot of doom metal with this 2009 remaster of Sabbath's debut album ........... heavy, man! ![]()
George Cables - Cables vision

- George Cables - Piano, electric piano
- Freddie Hubbard - Trumpet, flugelhorn

Van Morrison - Magic Time

I have several of the Man's albums but having seen this posted here recently I realised that Magic Time has passed me by......until now. Which is a shame because it is a fine effort with a number of memorial tracks among the diverse material that makes up this album.
Not his best but far from his worst IMHO.

Buddy Holly - From The Original Master Tapes.
A wee bit of old time rock 'n roll, ............. so many great songs, and a real "in the room" feel with this sympathetic mastering from the
original analogue tapes.
Rock on!
Ini Kamoze - World a Music - Taxi Records 1984 produced by Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare - Original vinyl.
Bob the Builder posted:Bitty McLean - The Taxi Sessions (2013) Recorded especially for vinyl by the masters Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare.
Nothing could sound better on this beautiful morning down in sunny Hove.
Playing this again and reading the sleeve notes discovered a certain Mr Keith Richards plays lead guitar. He has played on a few Sly and Robbie and also Black Uhuru LP's but wasn't aware until now that he appears on this great record by Bitty McLean a real treat.

Anais Mitchell - "Xoa" (2014) wonderful singer/songwriter folk artist. Running in a new amp. I thought my system was set and then chance arrival of some disposable cash made this purchase possible. It is a Peachtree Audio Nova 150 integrated amp/DAC (ESS) rated at 150 w/8 ohm. That extra power is really allowing the Ergo IX to show more of their capabilities. My system is way beneath most on this forum but I feel truly blessed to have been able to enjoy music for 55 years on many fine examples of audio equipment (including Naim).
Recent release.
Guaranteed to flap trousers and induce chin beard stroking.

Chuck Berry - Chuck.
Sticking with the old time Rock 'n Roll, (well alright, "new time"!), but what a final album ........... rock on, Chuck. ![]()

John Hiatt - "Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns" (2011) John doing his thing. One of my most favorite songwriters.

(2007)
Norah Jones - Not Too Late
I recently acquired a couple more of her albums for just pennies down at the river. This was her third and slightly changed things up a bit in that she wrote the majority of the songs herself, sounding lovely.
Playing on Compact Disc - Great album by Smashing Pumpkins

I was introduced to the music of Yes by my older cousin. This album became a lifelong favourite of mine. Today I shall be going to his funeral.
not too sure that I should have 'liked' given the circumstances but I did - sorry to hear the sad news Clive.
Tom Adams - Silence

Bert recommended this on here months ago and I have finally got around to buying the CD. Ripped and listening to it now it is quite stunning. Beautiful ambient music and wonderful vocals from Tom just draws you in.
This album has the ability to totally relax the listener, well me anyway. Just listen to this with the lights off and recline. It has a strange ability to intoxicate and relax at the same time.
.....and I swear I have not touched a drop today.![]()
BTW, this is an example of where the SQ of an album is far better on (ripped) CD than Tidal. Other albums show less of a difference, not this one.

case/lang/veirs - "case/lang/veirs" (2016) Neko Case, K.D. Lang, and Laura Veirs. These "supergroup" projects don't always do it for me, but these are three fine, distinctive voices and there are some tracks on this that are very nice.
