On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Peter Gabriel IV
(1982 | 2003)
I played this one a few months ago and it has just caught my eye again this evening, one of my favourite Gabriel albums with a fabulous opening track The Rhythm Of The Heat, ripped from SACD.

Bert recommended this on here months ago and I have finally got around to buying the CD. Ripped and listening to it now it is quite stunning. Beautiful ambient music and wonderful vocals from Tom just draws you in.
This album has the ability to totally relax the listener, well me anyway. Just listen to this with the lights off and recline. It has a strange ability to intoxicate and relax at the same time.
.....and I swear I have not touched a drop today.
BTW, this is an example of where the SQ of an album is far better on (ripped) CD than Tidal. Other albums show less of a difference, not this one.
I totally agree Nigel, a great recommendation from Bert. I came across the lady below in a recommendation on another site, took a chance & am really enjoying.......sort of similar vein but just different.

Hi Paul. I have Tidalised both these Lydia albums and will give them a listen.
Thanks for the tip.
Nigel
Well that's work done for another week. Time to unwind with a glass of white and this rather fine album...
Malia & Boris Blank - Convergence
Some trax off the album due out June.
It may not be the album that fans were expecting, true – but it is another fascinating chapter in the history of a band that continues to intrigue with every release.
I've been a Dire Straits fan for a long time but it's actually taken me quite a few years before I properly appreciated their early albums, especially this one.
Brahms' first sonata is a tough nut to crack, I've been listening to it on and off for the better part of a year now, and I feel I'm finally starting to 'get' it. Unlike his other sonatas, I feel it positively requires a pianist that lets rip whenever he can, and barnstorm his way through the rather episodic nature of the work. Having more recordings might help perhaps, but I only have Jonathan Plowright's fifth and final disc with Brahms works, on SACD. He follows up the sonata with the op. 116 Fantasies, unlike the sonata Brahms at his best, and worth the price of admission alone.
Cheers,
EJ
following another great recommendation here, another voyage of discovery, more pain & strain for the wallet. Very gentle music to ease into Friday evening....fishcakes on the go, beer about to begin....or maybe a nice red...

John Lennon - Walls and Bridges, I've always enjoyed this album which I think is a much better effort than its predecessor Mind Games.Especially enjoy the use of horns on this recording
(1988)
Ozric Tentacles - Sliding Gliding Worlds
For the Ozrics this is relatively easy going laid back stuff without many of the heavy riffs and smokey dippy stuff that we all love. Yet another super album by the lads and lass.
Jackson Browne - "Lawyers In Love" (1983)
Now playing.......
Elina Duni - Muza E Zere (The Black Muse)
Streaming on TIDAL........ Checking out the Elina Duni Catalogue, sweet voice and music.......
I recently came across The Stranglers - La Folie in my library and forgotten what a great album it is.
Takes me straight back to being a spotty 15yr old listening in my bedroom. I'd just brought my Rega Planar 2 (wood trim) with Acos Lustra tonearm (R100 cartridge) from Billy Bee in Lewisham. Many hours of Saturday jobs so a proud moment. It was acoumpanied by a Marantz PM350 and KEF Coral III.
Adding to the Sly and Robbie mentions -
I don't normally do RSD, but when this appeared on the river at store price plus postage I couldn't say no.
Not as "extreme" as Nordub, but definitely a modern take
1973 - vinyl - UK pressing...
Paul Kossof - Back Street Crawler, ok so its not Free but still showcases his brilliant guitar work.
1973 - vinyl - UK first pressing...
I'm still in the mood for some early Dire Straits so.....
1970 - vinyl - Uk first pressing...
Taste - The Best Of , a 16 track overview that mixes studio and live cuts with excellent SQ
