1969 - vinyl - Uk first pressing...

Good,  early years blues compilation album before they went,  well...mellow and drippy.  I  can think of a few more adjectives to describe their later albums  but RD would probably  shoot me down  like a  pheasant flying  over a field in Cambridgeshire on a nice sunny day at the end of August.

Van Morrison - What's Wrong With This Picture? , this is his debut for Blue Note from 2003 and a cracking later period effort. The backing he receives on each track is quite exceptional with brass and woodwinds to the fore on many songs.A couple of top notch covers thrown on too.Lovely.

Spurred on by a splendid Radio 3 concert with Janine Jansen playing this afternoon, have been listening to several versions of Tchaikovsky's concerto for violin and orchestra in D major.

Forgotten how enjoyable this concerto is - I have an old performance on vinyl somewhere.

BBC 3 link - would like to listen again if I can be bothered to register for iPlayer!

Viktoria Mullova -Bach Partitas for Solo Violin  WAV CD rip

Sublime music, densely sophisticated and complex, yet having immense fluidity and rhythm, just stunning composition. Mullova has the technique to play them beautifully, intelligent playing that brings out the beauty and the “dance”. The performance of the Chaconne here is  my second favourite of all I know.

She recorded them again, the second time with the Sonatas on a period instrument, also well worth listening to.

Ry Cooder - The Prodigal Son.

Arrived this morning, now ripped and streaming, this album represents a true return to form for Ry, with plenty of that old skool,

heavily distorted, slide guitar playing that he does so well.

Thanks for the tip - now playing on Tidal

Neil Young & Crazy Horse. On original vinyl from 1979. Among my first couple of Neil Young LP purchases and still my favorite. The album that started my almost 40-year-long bromance with Neil's music.

38 Special. Special Forces. On original vinyl from 1982. I've seen a couple of posts here of 38 Special the past week and felt inspired to spin this, the most successful album from the wild-eyed southern boys.

Sorry - kinda big image.  I'm listening to a collection of music done as a collaborative effort by Daniel Lanois & Venetian Snares.  Very interesting - laid back and haunting from Lanois, anything but from Venetian Snares.  Not sure what to make of this release.  Definitely something new from Daniel Lanois!  Streaming on Tidal.
