On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Hi Alan,
Great as the album is, I was desperate to have available, the "live in the studio" version of "Prodigal Son" which is as funky as a funky
thing can be.
It's viewable over on yon YouTube thingy, or directly on Ry's own website.
Anyway, I've managed to extract the music content from the video file, and it's currently belting out via USB on my NDS.
Happy days.
On vinyl...

Ah I wondered what you were up to when I saw your original post enquiring about the extraction of audio from a video file. That version is definately worth the effort.Pardon my ignorance but are you able to add the file so it plays the same time as the album or does it remain independant?

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - The Sky Is Crying , a collection of unreleased tracks issued after the guitarists death, its a worthy selection
Esbjorn Svensson Trio - Live In London
Sometimes it takes a break to re-appreciate something. It's a while since I played any EST but this set, released just shy of 10 years since Esbjorn's untimely death, has just done just that.
A double album's worth of seemingly (and that's part of the charm) effortless music, with jazz just the way I like it - approaching life from a rather rockist point of view, thanks to Dan Berglund.
It's a superb recording (24/96 for just £8.62 on Qobuz) too.
Now playing.......
James Taylor - Before This World
Streaming on TIDAL........ Opening the day with James........ something familiar and sounding fantastic!
1980 original vinyl (Mercury label) - not the Deluxe version - artwork messed up entirely on that!
(1971)
Yes, Caravan's out on this lovely warm sunny afternoon, classic early prog' rock of a Canterbury persuasion.
Now Playing......
Jessica Lauren - Almeria
Streaming on TIDAL....... Going with the mention from ZIKARUS above and taking Jessica out for a spin....... Album release 2018-05-04 and I am enjoying the first couple of tracks!

Viktoria Mullova -Bach Partitas for Solo Violin WAV CD rip
Sublime music, densely sophisticated and complex, yet having immense fluidity and rhythm, just stunning composition. Mullova has the technique to play them beautifully, intelligent playing that brings out the beauty and the “dance”. The performance of the Chaconne here is my second favourite of all I know.
She recorded them again, the second time with the Sonatas on a period instrument, also well worth listening to.
One for the desert island! Sparse, intense, solemn and ice cold. Her later recordings are more playful but lack her early intensity, I feel.
Cheers
EJ
One of my lesser-played Eddi Reader albums.

Great Live album by Stephen Stills - Playing on Vinyl on Atlantic Records 1975........Jet Set is brilliant
Heavily orchestrated jazz, with both vocal and instrumental tracks. Stylish and very well done.
Silje Nergaard - For You A Thousand Times
The more I hear this, the more I am enjoying it. I have found it is more rewarding when I am prepared to give it some attention with some active listening. Not really background music IMHO.
A talented lady who's music is difficult to pigeonhole. But that is part of its attraction.
My first Beth Nielsen Chapman album and still my favourite.

Calexico - Edge of the Sun
Not one of my Calexico favourites but it's still a good album to listen to.
Enjoying this - Playing on Compact Disc on RCA records - " Jump into the fire " is magic
The Crusaders - Those Southern Knights
Another classic from the Knights of Jazz-funk (that is when they stopped being the Jazz Crusaders).
Nuff said.
BTW, this one was recorded in 1975 and the recording is crisp, clear and musical. They obviously gave a sh1t about SQ back then. Mind you the last time I heard this was on a crappy tape deck around......err.......1975!
iTunes CDJapan AIFF Rip. Their best period in my opinion.
Deep Purple - In Rock, Tidal
‘70s hard rock classic, Glover and Paice a superb rhythm section, Lord’s organ and Blackmore’s Strat both amazing leads, and Gillan had an amazing set of pipes. This is an album of masterful heavy rock songs, driving rhythm section, organ and guitar leads ranging from screaming solos to sensitive playing, and a sensational singer with an immense range. Speed King announces the style of the album with Richie’s amazing solo, and for me, Child in Time is one of the high points of hard rock.
A real blast from my past, I probably haven't listened to the whole album since the mid-‘90s. Bruce Dickinson chose Child In Time as a heritage track on R4 this morning, I went to look for the album and didn’t have it. So Tidal it was, despite the intervening years, I remember it note for note.

The whole album is great. I keep asking if he will release a deluxe version but nothing as yet.

Pat Metheny - What's It All About
He covers many fine old hits and standards here from Bacharach to Simon, via Cohen and Mancini. A lovely chilled and laid back album that is of course very well played by the man.
