On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
An official 2 disc set I got years ago but haven't played for so long.
Now Playing......

Streaming on TIDAL........ Great gravel voice, lyrics and music, just one fine album!

Deep Purple - In Rock, Tidal
‘70s hard rock classic, Glover and Paice a superb rhythm section, Lord’s organ and Blackmore’s Strat both amazing leads, and Gillan had an amazing set of pipes. This is an album of masterful heavy rock songs, driving rhythm section, organ and guitar leads ranging from screaming solos to sensitive playing, and a sensational singer with an immense range. Speed King announces the style of the album with Richie’s amazing solo, and for me, Child in Time is one of the high points of hard rock.
A real blast from my past, I probably haven't listened to the whole album since the mid-‘90s. Bruce Dickinson chose Child In Time as a heritage track on R4 this morning, I went to look for the album and didn’t have it. So Tidal it was, despite the intervening years, I remember it note for note.
Ah! An album I played to death when it was first released, accompanied by very low lighting and occasional joss sticks. Wore my LP out.
Fancied something by the fab four.

The first album I ever bought, some years after release, and despite being played on my parents’ “music centre” for years, I still play that copy and it is in surprisingly good nick.
I just replayed some of the key numbers of my Munich two days and thought I want to share them as I think they are interesting or give your system a good workout.
This one was the start of the Naim ND555 demo, definitely an album you would need to get...
A great version of this song. Also as unique as the original or the Buckley version...give it a try...
A haunting voice...
Heard her multiple times during the weekend also on her famous album, four seasons in jazz...
If you listen to the owner of Fone Records, you almost are half sold already, just by his word...., but recording is definitely special...
24/96 download, via the BDP2.
Cheers,
EJ
Another one from the same record company...
1998 - CD (rip)...

Hi Bert,
I saw your playlist post late last night and so had to wait until earlier today to give this a spin (no pun intended). I definitely agree with you it is a great track to test your system and I will be checking out the rest of the playlist tomorrow.
The beauty of Tidal, streaming is but a wonderful thing, well certainly for discovering new music.
ATB,
Mike
Another severe workout for the system, also low end..
Heard this on a 100watts tube amplifier - I will write about that in another thread..., very nice traditional big band..
Now Playing.........

Pat Metheny (guitar, guitar synthesizer), Lyle Mays (piano, synthesizer, organ, autoharp, synclavier), Steve Rodby (acoustic bass, electric bass, bass synthesizer), Dan Gottlieb (drums), and Nana Vasconcelos (percussion, voice, berimba).
Streaming on NAS........ A quick stop by Golden Oldies while out for a walk and picked this double CD set up, ripped to NAS and now taking them out for a spin...... and Sounding Fantastic!
Satriani’s aptly titled full album debut. Fabulous vituoso guitar playing.
E Clapton - Me and Mr Johnson
These blues aren't dirty but, man, they're good.
Viktoria Mullova (Seiji Ozawa, Boston SO), Tchaikovsky/Sibelius Violin Concertos, original U.K. vinyl
Viktoria Mullova’s debut album, picking two of the great Romantic Concertos. Two incredible pieces of music, Ozawa gets the orchestra to support and play amazingly, and the young Mullova is a dream for me on this album. She drags every piece of emotion out of the music without being over the top, formidable technique and great expression. I must have played this chunk of plastic well over a hundred times in 32 years, and still feel completely gripped every time. My favourite performances of both pieces.
Thanks to Alley Car, you were playing the Tchaikovsky concerto yesterday which prompted me to grab this, and I had to flip over to the Sibelius as well.

Will check it out if it's on Qobuz. Must confess I can't remember which Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto I've got on vinyl, but must be over 20 years old, I'll need to ferret around in my storage unit to find it.
