On hybrid SACD/CD from the band's own imprint, Spoon Records, an early noughties reissue of a classic '76 double LP. Stunning - but then, there is something utterly miraculous about Can...

Lyman Woodard: Saturday Night Special. More jazz fusion based than was usual for Strata East. Organ, guitar, drums.

From Bandcamp.

  Z Z Top - Rhythmeen.

  Why?

'Cos you can do a lot worse than to kick off the afternoon with the Tops ..............  and Billy Gibbons, master of the groove and the

old six string harmonics, ....................... so, why not?

(1974 | 2017)

Ry Cooder - Paradise & Lunch

Much talk of his new album that I've yet to try I thought I'd get this golden oldie out, it was given the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs SACD treatment last year.

Having revisited Country Life and Stranded yesterday, I thought I'd have a listen to another Roxy albums that I haven't played for ages.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Couldn't Stand The Weather.

Seemingly stuck in Texas for the time being ^ ................. still, who's complaining?

I don't know why, but for some crazy reason I thought I'd try the Steven Wilson remastered version of this classic once again. It was probably because I wanted to hear the 24 bit version. After just a couple of minutes into 'And You And I' when I heard how Chris Squire's bass had been overemphasised in the mix I remembered why I regard this remaster to be a disaster. Back to the original, I think.

Reissue vinyl from the 1990s. Incredible drumming, swirling, elemental, open-ended, miraculous music.

1993 - Vinyl - Dutch (2014) pressing...

Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure

Mentally tossing up whether to go with Mike's Roxy, Dave's ZZ, or Kev's late entry of Can I plumped for some old Roxy. It's not often that ZZ or Can get beaten for preference in this house, it's more to do with mood and timing so far this evening.

Ralph Towner - Old Friends, New Friends

Ralph Towner  (12-string guitar, classical guitar, piano, french horn), Kenny Wheeler  (trumpet, flugelhorn), Eddie Gomez  (bass), Michael DiPasqua  (drums, percussion), and David Darling  (cello).

Steamed on TIDAL........  Picked up yesterday at golden oldies, ripped to NAS and gave it a spin! Ralph's Quartet sounded mighty fine!

This album contains one of my all time favorites: "Beneath an Evening Sky".  Once met Paul McCandless who said it was one of his too.

..an easy accessible album, well recorded by Fone Records...

Live atmosphere comes across very well, while I would prefer a bit better balance of the different players in the band...

I seem to have slipped into something of a Roxy-fest over the yesterday and today.

I've always loved the opening song of this album, Love Is A Drug.  Real boogie.
