On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Texas - White On Blonde.
Some fine Weegie poptastic choons, and, of course, the incomparable voice of Sharleen Spiteri ......... aw, jist brilliant, ken.
True Love - Otzeki (from ‘Binary Childhood’)
I’ve had to put my book down for a moment (see post in Padded Cell) to try out this, seen - but not heard - on the shelves of Rough Trade East this weekend. Inspiring electronic-based songs, of which this is the stand-out so far.
A new ep from Gang of Four.
2001 - CD (rip)...
(2010)
The Black Angels - Phosphene Dream
These boys are great, this album kicks off with something that sounds like The Doors tripping then going into heavy psychedelic rock and back out again through some other portal.
And now the 'Daddy' Roxy album. What a fresh, innovative debut album this was. A pretty good announcement to the music world that Roxy had arrived.
First played Steely Dan's AJa album but it didn't really hit the spot - all very polished and Hi FI sounding
After one track of Steely Dan - went for this fabulous Greatest Hits from The very Reverent Al Green - "Here I am (come and take me) is bloody brilliant - Playing on Vinyl on Hi Records 1975........Technics SL 1210

The first minute of the opening track is Just a pure genius minute of pop music. Goose bumpy delirium.
Porcupine Tree, Arriving Somewhere.........
This dropped through the letter box after its journey along the big river.
Very impressed, some Great tunes and lovely SQ on this 2018 re-master.
James Dey - landing lights, WAV CD rip
1st play, local singer songwriter I saw a week ago, bought his recent album at the gig, he’d mentioned an earlier one, so contacted him through Bandcamp and he posted me this. Nice gentle thoughtful songs, his songwriting has improved in the 13 years since he wrote and performed this, but still a lovely album of good songs very well sung and played.
Must edit the cover image, just noticed I took the photo with the phone rotated.
Blondie - Parallel Lines.
I seem to be having something of a poptastic evening ............ and they don't come much better than this one.
iTunes SHM-CDJapan AIFF Rip

Playing UK in August. Awesome live, awesome recorded.
Tried this based on the earlier post, not yet convinced, but should have a 2nd run end to end
Switched finally to something which suited me better right now...
2014 - CD (rip)...
Kate Tempest - Everybody Down
How Many: Natsuki Tamura & Satoko Fujii
A special free present that arrived with the ordered disc Solo by Satoko Fujii.
Now playing......
Cara Dillon - A Thousand Hearts
Streaming on TIDAL....... Continuing on with another album from Cara's catalogue, a sweet and beautiful voice.
Alfred Brendel - Mozart Piano Convpcertos K.271 & K.449, WAV CD rip
Two glorious piano concertos, Mozart’s genius for melody and hiding the complexity of the composition in sheer beauty is at its height in both. Brendel digs deep into the music and with the orchestra provides wonderful listening.
Flutatious, Festival.
Recommended by a friend of mine who knows Bill Forwell of Ozric Tentacles who is part of Fluctatious. This is worth checking out.
Van Morrison - Keep It Simple , a brilliant later period album
2012 - CD (rip)...
Laura J Martin - The Hangman Tree
Van Morrison - Born to Sing ; No Plan B , continuing the Van love-in
Traffic - Traffic Report , a promo album from 1987 featuring 13 classic tracks in great SQ
Bask-Ramble Beyond
Local band playing some good heavy rock. Somewhat similar to All Them Witches
