Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure
Mentally tossing up whether to go with Mike's Roxy, Dave's ZZ, or Kev's late entry of Can I plumped for some old Roxy. It's not often that ZZ or Can get beaten for preference in this house, it's more to do with mood and timing so far this evening.
The right choice, Steve! I didn’t see Mike post this one, but it has to be the best, certainly the most artistic, of the Roxy output.
I've seen this album mentioned here a few times and after reading a review in the latest HFN, I took a punt.
Liking what I'm hearing so far...
Josh Rouse - Love In The Modern Age
This was sounding very good last night, on vinyl...
Andy Kershaw Radio 1 programme from 1999!
As I said in an earlier post, I have just moved and am going through my record and cd collection afresh. As I was late coming to ipods and MP3s I had (and still have!) a mini disc player, both a portable and separate. It appears I would record Andy Kershaw and Bob Harris for later listening. Fascinating and huge enjoyable. (And slightly depressing as I have just heard a news report where the then shadow minister for education, one Teresa May, is complaining about the tests being introduced for primary school children by the then Labour Party. Why, she opines, can't teachers just be left to get one with teaching!)
Elton John - Are You Ready For Love, picked up this cd single yesterday for the princely sum of 50p.Cracking extended version of the single from the sessions that are quite unique in Elton's body of work .

Thats it ,the Philly sound ,great description Ewe, and the track doesn't sound extended for the sake of it.Love the drum ,percussion break.
Wings - At The Speed Of Sound, underated album in my view .Playing the Archive Collection edition with the bonus disc version of "Beware My Love" with John Bonham on drums!

A favourite of mine too, Clive. I didn't play them much until fairly recently, I had forgotten who good some of their albums were, they are still well worth getting out for a play.
Cloud Boat. Book of Hours.
Interesting meander through several tones and styles that have been popular from recent years in contemporary electronic indie.
like Hozier and Jon Hopkins falling after a hit from that SLO MO in Judge Dredd.
