What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Percy was into blues in his earlies days before Led Zeppelin. Not surprising he a Alison Kraus worked together.
Phil
Hi Phil, they weren't all in the band at the same time. Clapton was their original axeman, he left to be replaced by Beck, Page joined on bass briefly before a short time with Beck/page dual lead, and then Beck left and the final incarnation ad Page as the sole lead guitar. Have a look on Tidal for Happenings Ten years Time Ago, I think aboutthe only recording of the Beck/Page lineup, it's a wall of noise style psychedelic track well before its time.
It's a fascinating period of music to get in to, Bonham and Plant came from the Birmingham rock scene (which was pretty big in its own right), but there was the massive London scene of the "Swinging Sixties", so there was a lot of cross-fertilisation and band-swapping happening, and they all knew each other and went to each other's gigs.
Phil, if it’s mostly the blues elements of LZ that you like (especially the first and second albums), you really ought to get to hear the albums ‘Truth’ and ‘Beck-Ola’ by Jeff Beck, featuring Rod Stewart on vocal. It was reported that Beck accused Page of stealing the style which he had created in these albums.
Clive, LZ II is my favourite so far. III doesn’t do anything so far. I’ll give your recommendations a go on TIDAL. Thanks.
Phil
Reading the “bored with forum” thread had me humming “I’m so sick of you, bye, bye bye” so I had to play the album.
One of Lou’s finest

Nice vocal jazz.

But surely you must like the minor blues, 'Since I've Been Loving You' from the third album. It is one of the band's highlights, particularly Page's guitar solo.

Seal (II)
Just because I luv this man's voice and this whole album is packed full of great songs.
Eels, The Deconstruction.
I had just put on "Freaks" when I remembered Eels had a new album out, so on it went. I hope it lives up to expectations.

Yep, a nice chilled compilation, Steve. Sometimes you just want to sit back enjoy a drink or two quietly without bothering what to listen to next.

Hi Steve, I have enjoyed this first play. I do find that Eels albums grow on me more over time, so I think this will be going on the shopping list. Good to hear Eels on form again.

Thanks! I couldn’t have put it better myself. His playing is just superb, and I was just twittering on to Hilary that he has to be the best jazz pianist ever. It’s indeed a wonderful album.
I wholeheartedly agree.
I've come late to Bill Evans and don't understand how that's happened. I'm now catching up and the below is one of my favourites. You can't beat good live recordings.
(1970 | 2016)
Santana - Abraxas
One of those landmark 70's albums and certainly one of my favourites that got played relentlessly. This version has had the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs makeover, which is okay.

Great acoustics at the Vanguard. The beer is pricey though

OK now you're making me envious.
I've been to NYC in both 2016 & 17, so Mrs Mutton has already planned 2018. Maybe next year!
Chris Stapleton - From A Room: Volume 1
I used to be rather dismissive of Country, thinking it somehow unworthy and not to be taken as seriously as other genres. How foolish. I now know differently. I have enjoyed exploring this wonderful genre and building a superb library with great artists like Chris Stapleton. This gentleman has a superb voice and has written some excellent songs.
If you are a little sniffy towards Country as I was, put your prejudices to one side for a moment and give this a listen on Tidal. You never know!

I'll miss Tidal if it folds, listening to the first track now, not a million miles from Steve Earle - a good thing.
