What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Another from 1974. I found this
“Nino so loved the sound of Radiah and him singing together that he decided to make the whole album together with her, using her style when it seemed appropriate. Unfortunately, the record label at first refused to let him record with Radiah. They would do so only if he would record a French version. Nino, again had to bend to complete his vision, a majestic album that really had immense musical merit on its own, so he did. He re-recorded “South” in French, now titled as “Le Sud”. Barclays subsequently re-released the single and it sold millions upon millions of copies making Nino famous again. For some reason, Nino et Radiah only sold 60,000 copies and an album that should reside alongside L’Histoire de Melody Nelson, Polnareff’s, Comme a la Radio as albums you should know by heart got lost to time.”
There’s a sad ending in 1998.

Phil Collins ...But Somebody.... CD
Continuing the theme ...that’s just the way it is .. do you remember (1974) ...another day in paradise ... all of my life..
The lyrics are very poignant. On of the best 99p I ever spent. Did he do a better solo album?

I can never get past the fact (as I remember it) that while Paradise was in the charts Phil was threatening to leave the UK if Labour came into power and raised taxes.
Perhaps it was reverse psychology!

Nice sunny morning here in the Uk - What better than some Vivaldi - Playing on Vinyl
‘Tell Me How You Really Feel’ is Courtney Barnett at her angriest and most vulnerable, but being a drinker of details means she can also blow the beauty of life’s little things up to full-size. Closer ‘Sunday Roast’ is wonderfully smeared slacker ballad and an ode to cherishing friendship that sees Barnett carve out her heart and leave it open on the kitchen table. It’s that candid charm that may just make her the voice of her generation.
Nice combo of Rhythm and sax solos....gives a bit of Candy Dulfer feeling...
E Clapton - Backless
it's never too early.

Phil Collins .... But Seriously... Another Day in a Paradise ..
He didn’t have to worry in 1989. Perhaps he should have used this later photo. Serious topic Homelessness.

Apparently, Percy is to do with Plant creating a stage persona with his long blonde hair, bare chest, colourful outfits, swagger and bravado. Just a bit of trivia.

I'd put it differently Phil. John Paul Jones was a session man, Bonham and Plan were in Band of Joy, as far as I remember Jimmy Page was the only Yardbird, and he was also a session man. JPJ and Page started pulling a band together when the Yardbirds folded, they briefly called themselves the New Yardbirds to fulfil some Yardbirds contractual gigs. But really there wasn't much linkage otherwise. The Yardbirds was a great band for kickstarting guitarists, they had Page, Clapton and Beck, about as stellar as you could get.
Just to add more color, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Jeff Beck each played as session musicians for Donovan at various times. Clapton appeared with Donovan during an Amnesty International concert.
All four members of Led Zeppelin appeared on PJ Proby’s album Three Week Hero. That was one of the most expensive slabs of vinyl I ever purchased when I was an out and out Zeppelin fan.

Of at least 99p and an awful lot of street cred.
Z Z Top - Antenna.
Starting off today with some Z Z .................... this is something of a "back to basics" approach from the Tops, following their
heavily synthed period, and is none the worse for it ....................... Tonetastic!

Whatever happened to PJ Proby? (As Van the Man once sang.)
Boz Scaggs - Silk Degrees.
Another one through the letterbox today, ripped and streaming now.
A classic pop /soul album from '76, which has certainly stood the test of time, IMHO.
On vinyl...

Eoink, great summation, I wish more folks here would take the time to reflect on the WHY. I don't have much country music in my arsenal but agree this is an album any lover of popular music might enjoy, and Albert Lee is outstanding.
Thanks Joe, I try to write a bit about everything I listen to, to help people who don't know it whether to have a listen or not. I do sometimes suspect that people skim past it, so it's nice to know it works for you.

Clive, Tell that to [@mention:12970396060785205]. Just to go a step further, I don’t like the rock songs on the album, some of which are just loud and banal! Not sure what that will do to my street cred.
Fortunately, this thread is a very diverse street! It has some sense of humour, though I’m still waiting for [@mention:6917038660692026] to respond to the bit about Italian Eurovision entrants. Nothing like a bit of self deprecation!

On vinyl...
Brilliant album by REM - Was lucky to see them on that tour at Hammersmith Odean London - Amazing - Peter Bucks Rickenbacker never sounded so good. Playing on IRS records 1987
The urgency of the opening 2 tracks "Begin the Begin" and These Days"...then it calms down with "Fall on Me "
Now Playing........
Azimuth - How It Was Then...Never Again
John Taylor (piano), Norma Winstone (voice), and Kenny Wheeler (trumpet, flugelhorn).
Streaming on NAS....... A recent acquisition and love the album, a great trio and the opening track is fantastic!

Phil,
I don’t and never careed about EV. As for Italian music, an ex girlfriend (Italian) “introduced” me to people like Zucchero and Carmen. Things you do to get...(!)
Long before that, I did have a soft spot for PFM( Premiata Forneria Marconi) back in the late 70’s early 80’s, Italian prog at its best.
Stay cool.
Cheers,
Tony
Wilko Johnson / Roger Daltrey - Going Back Home.
I know it's neither big nor clever, and that this album's been done to death on here, and that there can't be anyone who hasn't heard it
...................... still, it ain't half good, just two old geezers giving it plenty ................... got this old geezer bopping around anyway!
