What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Maceo Parker - It's all about love

Some very fine Texican blues rock from the inimitable 'Tops.
There are certain things I’ve “known” in music over the years... e.g. John Cage was rubbish (until I heard In A Landscape)
But another notable idiocy was that I knew ZZ Top were a dull southern blues outfit that I could safely ignore.
Then one evening after work in the late 70s I was browsing the shelves of SF bookshop Forbidden Planet and they were playing a simply amazing album...
Me: What is this? It’s wonderful.
Hairy Salesman: ZZ Top
Me: What?
HS: Their new one, Deguello.
Me: *thinks* How do I reconcile this? I’m a bloody ZZ Top convert! What do I know?
Nick, great anecdote, it's such a trueism to say "you never know until you have tried it" but hey, yeah. Listening to Asleep in the Desert from the Tejas album (for the 3rd time) as I write, lovely as ever! You have and continue to guide me toward so much good music over the years, thanks you!
I picked up on this lady only few days ago in the Music Room, and what a wonderful discovery.
Every album is superb!
I missed Jazz Record Request this afternoon, so I’ll have to make up for the omission by playing some from my own collection. Starting out with McCoy Tyner, The Real McCoy.
(1969)
Fleetwood Mac - Then Play On
Always difficult to follow ZZ Top but since they used Peter Green as one of their music influences this is a good place to go (my favourite Fleetwood Mac album). This one has the original playing order restored (in 2013) to its correct order and a couple of nice bonus tracks. Searching For and Fighting for Madge are a couple of favourites for nigh on 50 years.
Moving on to this live recording from Keith Jarrett. A gorgeous version of Blame It On My Youth on this album, which is actually free of the Jarrett squeak, which does spoil some of the other tracks.
Why do I have this compulsive urge to get up and dance around the living room, every time I play Sugarcoat (side 2, track1) from this vinyl album? I'm a grown man for goodness sake!
p.s. this is a recommendation...

Gary Moore - Ballads & Blues - 1982 / 1994.
Just ordered from The River for pennies ................ great shout, DrMark.
Love his guitar playing!
What is “The River”?
That's Amazon.
Haven't heard this in ages so I thought I'd give it a spin. 1980s UK vinyl:
The Beach Boys - Endless Summer - 20 Classic Tracks
Mine Only has 20 compared to the cover above. Hard to beat a bit of Beach Boys on a wonderful warm day. Bought this to supplement my mono Pet Sounds which is very collectible. Used to have Surfing Safari until it disappeared in the early seventies.
Why did the monos sound so good on our simple record players! Perhaps my hearing has changed a bit. Anyhow it sounds amazing good now.
Phil
Roxy Music - Avalon.
Some smooth Roxy to follow the footy ..................... and the title track is definitely one of my desert island thingys.
A good solid dub instrumental album by Sly Dunbar - But might as well be a Sly and Robbie album as Robbie Shakespear is on bass guitar....perfect dinner cooking music - Playing on Vinyl on Trojan Records
I've always loved Joe Sample and Randy Crawford. Put them together live, and you have magic!
ZZ Top - La Futura
The 2012 Rick Rubin produced album. It stands up well to their 70s stuff (no synths here) though some tone is sacrificed to loudness, though he makes them sound suitably filthy. A top notch selections of tunes too, not the least of which is this hip-hop adaptation:
ZZ Top - One Foot in the Blues.
It's Tops time then!
Some scuzzy Texas blues from The Rev. Gibbons and chums ................... erm, ...................LOUD! .......... (Is there any other way?)
Dipping into this box set again and on this occasion have selected 'States of Being'. Excellent
True Stereo Unprocessed Analog[ue????] Recordings by Ken Christianson/naim. One of the best quality recordings I have (along with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter ‘1+1’ which is also a gem).
Just beautiful to listen to. And inspired/reminded me to buy 4 of the featured albums. Just £30 after a fair amount of hunting. And will dust off the 2 that I have already. Bingo!
I first heard this album in the early 90's when i auditioned a Pink Triangle Anniversary TT + SME V + I think a Sumiko Blue Point Special.
Both were a revelation and led to a huge hit on the credit card, which was scary as mid 20yr old.
Sadly I sold the Anni back in 2004 which I regret to this day, but the album lives on in my collection. It's one of my coveted top 5 albums.
Tony Thomas - 21st. Century Dub.
Funk? House? Dub? Tribal? ............... I'm not even sure what these terms mean, but this thing bounces along merrily, with some
monster bass and dubby brass, and is just the thing to chill with on a lazy Saturday evening.
Back to the 80's with some fine music from Level 42. After Running In The Family it all started to go down hill. Still a great band to go and see live.
Level 42 - World Machine

A tribute to Vangelis' Blade Runner score - perfectly captures the sounds and atmosphere without copying the notes.
Wonderful accompaniment to a glorious May afternoon.
Thanks Nick, I noticed you buying some of their albums from bandcamp. Blade Runner has always been one of my favourite soundtracks and the use of those lovely old analogue synthesisers are being put to very good use here, more investigation required at this end.
Cheers.
Steve
If you like the Blade Runner soundtrack, it might be worth checking out the soundtrack to Blade Runner 2049. I thought it was very good - I even paid £14 for it! Lots of deep growls coupled with synth type stuff reminiscent of the Vangelis original.
The following might be heresy, but here goes: I thought Blade Runner 2049 was a much better film than the original. There I have said it!

Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection, a little bit of classic Elton.Playing the remaster with "Madman Across the Water " featuring Mick Ronson on lead guitar as a bonus track, an excellent alternative version
