What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Much better than his first E.P. which had some of the numbers off this album done acoustically.
An artist to watch
Where can it be purchased please.
Try fish records £11.99
You can also buy this on the river through their international sales (sent from USA) for £7.50 plus approx £3 postage. Bargain of the year if you ask me!
The 'river' appears to be selling CD-R copies of the album though……………….
My copy was ordered from Am**on UK but is being sent out from Am**on US and the format is described as Audio CD. So hopefully not a cheapo copy.
Looks like bad news, Nigel, here's the spiel on The River UK.
"When sold by Amazon.com, this product is manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply."
Should that prove to be the case, it'll be going straight back, and I'll re-order it once the album officially appears here.
Cheeky bu**ers!
Dave, I am irritated by this. Yes, they do mention CD-R production but you really have to look carefully down to the bottom of the page. No mention of CD-R in the Format description at the top of the page.
I have decided to return my copy unopened so as not to contravene their (probably hidden) return conditions and buy it from Fish Records in the U.K. The album looks like the real deal there with a catalog number for £11.99 and free delivery.
Hope I am not breaking any forum rules here but I don't want others to be caught out like I was. This album is far to good to be shafted with a sub-standard (re)production.
Just get it as flac via 7digital

The Place I Call Home - 16/44.1
Another artist new to me, after reading the posts above went on to YouTube and listen to the title track and liked what I was hearing, did a search for the cd but could only find mp3 versions eventually found the cd download on “7 Digital” for £8.99.
Great album that I know will get even better with more listening, look forward to more albums from this artist in the future.

This guy is hugely talented... saw the various posts here, so thought I’d give it a go on Tidal. Very impressive.
Excellent orchestral jazz, that we will be seeing performed in Paris next week.

Bentley Caldwell - The Place That I Call Home
Streaming on TIDAL....... Many mentions of the past couple of days which prompted me to take it out for a spin!
Isaac Stern /Yo-Yo Ma Abbado & Chicago So Brahms Double Concerto, adding Emmanuel Ax and Jaime Laredo for Brahms Piano Quartet, WAV CD rip.
The Brahms Double Concerto never fails to move me, a work of fantastic composition with the two soloists tightly integrated with the orchestra, but playing some tellingly powerful themes. A great controlled Romantic piece. I love this performance by Ma and Stern, both superb technically and emotionally, with great support from Abbado. The Piano Quartet is a work of searing emotion, with some lovely musical themes, the 4= players do it full justice here. A very fine disc, as I get ready for the painful emotion of the Test highlights.

At this rate I will be asking Peter his Tour Manager for a cut of the proceeds. Lol

A talent like this gentleman so rarely comes around so it is great that the forum has your good self to bring them to our attention. However sometimes great finds like this can get lost in a multitude of posts. So I think we need a 'Ewemonomter' of talent to highlight the real belters, and I have a suggestion based on a system of smiley face awards as follows:
As sampler sent through to me, not much cop
Used to like this, now not so much
This has potential, but YMMV
Rather good, worthy of your attention
Absolute belter and no mistake.
What do you think?
Shania Twain - Come on Over
Ripped CD. Not really sure why?
Paul Simon ,self titled first solo album .IMHO still his best effort with not a duff track in sight .

Reminds me to dig it out for a listen
Streaming on Tidal - Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly ‘Peter Pears: Ceremonial Balinese Music’ Interesting just released collaboration from this pair, well worth a listen
Eric Bibb - Migration Blues.
Another fine album from the ever reliable Eric Bibb, modern blues master .................. recommended.
A smattering of trax of his latest set due out July.
A number of trax
Earlier this evening. The one you don’t see that often on this forum, but still nice...
Had another listen to this one, will get it tomorrow - must have...
This one is also interesting, while different from the other one. Less produced, reduced to the essentials guitar and voice...
Tasteful, quite nice. While this type of music is not so much my style. So I most probably will not get it myself, that’s where Tidal is handy....
kd lang - Hymns of the 49th Parallel ,
Out Aug
The Kinks - Greatest Hits, WAV CD rip
Having watched the cricket highlights, I needed cheering up. So over to one of Muswell Hill’s finest singer-songwriters, Ray Davies writes quirky lyrics with superb tunes, the band are excellent with Dave Davies being an understated stellar guitarist, a lovely meditation on loss (Days) is my high point, but lots of moments of pure pop perfection.
Now playing.......
Eric Bibb - Migration Blues
Streaming on TIDAL......... Going with the mention from DAVE MARSHALL and taking Eric's Migration Blues out for a spin, opening track is some nice smooth acoustic blues, very nice!
SRV's "Texas Flood"
Haven't played this for sometime -- was in the mood today and no, it didn't disappoint...
enjoy

Very nice new compilation despite the ugly cover
