On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
(Released yesterday)
No apologies for playing this great contemporary psychedelic rock album again, it's been going around in the car and as background chez nous for nigh on 24 hours. Sixties and early seventies West Coast influenced sounds. More vocals than they usually get involved with but that all works fine a delicate take on the riffs, liking this mucho.

A classic indeed, you've prompted me to add to a playlist.

If you haven't heard Roky Eriksons solo albums this is great. Its called The Evil One and came out in 1981 think you will really enjoy.Very tight band and Roky's haunting vocal, interlaced with his LSD drenched songs.
Wishing you a fine evening
Cheers Ian
Thanks Ian. I'll look this one out.

Where did you stay in HK Bert?. Mid Levels?
No in Sai Kung for three years. Almost a feeling of holiday, was great.
Johnny Hartman and Oliver Nelson - I love everybody
The great voice of Johnny Hartman.

You probably wouldn't recognise it now. The NT has had a mass of new housing built everywhere. It was Aberdeen and Kennedy Town for me. My SWMBO is HK Chinese.
Now playing.......
Joshua Redman - Still Dreaming
Joshua Redman (saxophone), Ron Miles (cornet), Scott Colley (bass), and Brian Blade (drums).
Streaming on TIDAL........ Going with a mention from ZIKARUS, always enjoyed Joshua & Ron's horn playing, so I thought I would take this out for a spin. FYI---New release 05/25/2018.....
Nerina Pallot - Stay Lucky
Chilling now with a bit of Nerina. What a lovely album this is.
Robert Plant / Alison Krauss - Raising Sand, purchased today at a local record fair.First play although I have heard the album before and its a joy.
This is incredible Jazz from master pianist Art Tatum and great fun, 6 CDs with various partners for trios. Pablo recordings are straight forward by Norman Granz of his favorite musicians and singers doing what they love. I have many recordings which are superb.
Now Playing......
Jennifer Warnes - Another Time, Another Place
Streaming on TIDAL........... Taking another of Jennifer's albums out for a spin, an awesome voice for a performer celebrating her 50th anniversary as a recording artist with this albums release. The first couple of tracks are very nice.......
I've been cleaning and painting today with BBC Radio 3 playing on a portable radio/cd/cassette. I'm sure I heard a track from this album at some point on the J to Z programme, or at least someone playing vibes like Bobby Hutcherson. Thought I'd play the whole album now I'm at home. Super album, great recorded sound.
Another incredible pianist Oscar Peterson, classically trained but turned to jazz. Granz heard him and put him on the American stage.
These jazz sessions have an incredible mix of talent, thankfully he recorded these in late 40s and 50s you can hear the crowd and how impressed they were. Jazz used to be dance music but with these concerts they settled down to hear and focus on the music. There are 4 sessions on each CD as they mix and perform together.
Having not played this album in ages, hearing 'Big Love' on the car radio earlier reminded me to give this a play.
Very 'polished' production aside, this is a still a fine album.
Fleetwood Mac - Tango In The Night
Another purchase today Van Morrison - Beautiful Vision, and another classic in my opinion.
Now Playing.......
Melody Gardot - The Absence
Streaming on TIDAL......... Keeping the afternoon mellow, and there is nothing like being mellow with Melody! A very fine album......

Yeah it’s almost 10 years ago and haven’t been back in the last 7 years. Would need an excuse - as I liked it a lot. With the highlight of the year the Rugby Sevens...
Now Playing.......
Kasey Chambers - The Captain
Streaming on TIDAL...... Introduced to Kasey through this thread and enjoy her music, sounding mighty fine this Saturday afternoon!

Released yesterday in the U.S. First listen.
In my 'to do list' - first impression?
I like it. I will be definitely be giving it a few more spins in the following days. Picks up where "Every Open Eye" ends; which imo is good in this instance. I think you will enjoy it.
Best regards,

Now Playing.......
Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece
Streaming on TIDAL........ Early evening hour and time for some smooth sounds from Van, and he is sounding mighty fine!
I don't think I've ever played this as loud as it deserves to be played.
AIC-Unplugged first and now
Eric Clapton-Unplugged
I seem to never tire of Mark Knopfler's, Tracker tour 2015, much to everybody else in the house's chagrin.
It is one of the best live albums I have.
