Rather spookily  had this primed to play before Eoin's comment above regarding Cropredy and even more fitting as I am visiting Cropredy in a couple of weeks time.

Fairport Convention - Liege & Lief

Hopefully to have a beer in the Brasenose or the Red Lion.  I’ll next be in that village on the second weekend in August, for the obvious reason.

No doubt it'll rain that weekend then...it has rained every time I've gone to Cropredy!

I’ve missed 4 festivals since my first in 1984, I have been drenched, sunburnt through factor 50, chilled to the bone. sometimes on the same weekend.

Fantastic, I didn’t even know they did rooms. The last time I was in Cropredy when the festival wasn’t on was about 20 years ago when I was walking the Oxford canal, and stopped for a beer in the Brase. These days I stay in the village with a lovely couple whose kids have left home and they now let out the girls’ rooms to me and a couple of my friends for company during the festival, we alternate on the Wednesday night with Les cooking dinner and us taking them out to a good local food pub.

With all this Cropredy talk, I think I'll round off the evening with this one, with some different versions of many favourite Fairport tunes.

Fairport Convention - Cropredy Capers Bruised and Beaten Songs, WAV CD rip

Following the Cropredy conversation, the 2004 box set of Cropredy festival music from the first 25 years, this disc is the songs which by 2004 had been played most often at the festival, with performances from the years of the festival.  Some super musicianship and some great memories, very good folk-rock, but probably only really for people who know the festival.

"….

And though our separation
It pierced me to the heart
She still lives inside of me
We've never been apart

…."

Part of the lyrics from "If you see her, say hello" - which I've just been playing.

CORRECTION: it's "OK, let's go..." I could have sworn it was "roll".

Have been listening to this on band camp this morning, this is so beautiful....., a must listen for people who dig jazz combined with neoclassical/world music type of music.....

Also listened to this from Bandcamp. Some people even seem to have come to this one through the Dynamic Range level of the album, but it's a nice album as well...
