What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Grateful Dead-Workingman's Dead
Kraftwerk
Autobahn 3-D 24/44.1
I am on my third album from the “3D The Catalogue” HD download, the sound quality and mastering are superb, these are live recordings but sound like studio recordings because there's no crowd noise.
So far very happy with this purchase.

Metronomy - Summer 08
Summer sounds with an arch disco feel. Gorgeous. Feel the heat.
Fink - Horizontalism.
Well, maybe just one more .................. this is something of a dub reworking of the "Hard Believer" album.
Fairly hardcore in places, but still, some beautiful soundscapes painted by Mr. Greenall.
Forgot to publish this. It was this mornings workout, and I have gotten more and more into Marillion...
Listened to this as the rest of the series is now on discount at Qobuz, on the one hand I like it, on the other hand I find it sometimes a bit too present in the lower registers...
Was sceptical at first but now start getting into it more, and start to appreciate it more...
Bert Schurink posted:Have been listening to this on band camp this morning, this is so beautiful....., a must listen for people who dig jazz combined with neoclassical/world music type of music.....
Funny I thought this morning already I am in some way familiar to this. And then it turns out this also came out as album of the B&W society of sound. This album and the other of the guys, Bandcamp or Qobuz absolutely recommended.

Though singer Matt Berninger had barely rested his voice from a show in the area the night before, The National dutifully performed gorgeous acoustic renditions of four tracks from its fine new album, Trouble Will Find Me. Its members even treated the hundreds of worshipful gawkers to Building 2.0's first-ever Tiny Desk encore, in response to a roar of applause that could be heard in the far reaches of the newsroom downstairs.
It prompted me to play the album afterwards.
New Live album out think next month Denis. I have been playing it for a week or so.
(1966)
Frank Sinatra at the Sands
Probably at the top of my list of the many fine live Sinatra albums, this one aided and abetted by Count Basie and the boys. You really enjoy the vibe of the evening, much banter twixt him the band and audience too, wonderful stuff. RIP Frank

Great stuff. Frank has always been my favourite male singer of all time.

I don’t know what I missed that sparked your initial post, but it really is great to see such great passion about music here, rather than willy waving. Well done sir.
This is saved to my “check out” playlist.

All done with the usual LL style and wit. What I love about this gentleman is that he doesn't take himself too seriously and his music is the better for it. He's still a serious artist, make no mistake.
yes, I love "She's already made up her mind" on this album -- its one of the tracks I use to check all is OK with my system. and when all is OK, this is an 'Oh man!!' song...
I wonder who the 'she' he is referring to is though? Nah, can't be...
Well you cant blame me -- I kind of fancy Julia Roberts -- though of course i know they are not together anymore :-)
enjoy...

Wow, my late Dad had that on vinyl and her face ( Pia Degermark) brought me straight back to the late sixties I think it was. It’s still somewhere with lots of other DG vinyl so I must dig it out. Last time it was played was probably in to his Quad 22’s and ESL 57’s ! Magic.

Hi SJB,
I saw Robyn recently in Cambridge & his guitar playing, songwriting & storytelling were exceptional. A really enjoyable evening & it was my first time seeing him as well. If you like Richard Thompson (solo), then this gig will tickle your fancy.

Thanks Ewen, I'll look out for it.

Love this record. My Mum worked at EMI in Hayes in the sixties and they had a shop where employees could order LPs at a discount. I ordered this - it was an import - and was delighted when it came. Still play it, although the LP has long gone.

It's a little quirky but patience will be rewarded handsomely. This is one of my dessert island disc's without hesitation.
I was lucky enough to catch her when she toured this album in Oct 2010, whilst on holiday in NYC. I traveled out to Morristown NJ. What a fabulous concert!
Agreed, this is a lovely album. I too saw her on this tour and enjoyed her explanation of the songs and what they meant to her. She has such a unique voice too. Must play her albums more frequently.
Mark Knopfler - Get Lucky
I needed to hear this:
'Three hundred thousand on the clock, and plenty more to go,
Crash box and lever, she needs the heel and toe'
from Border Reiver
