In fairness this must have been a brave enough move in 1968, as to me there is quite a country influence in many of the songs as much as A blues influence.
Helped of course by 2 era defining singles, both brave releases in their own way too. Don’t remember too much of this as a 2 year old, anyone hear who remembers this release or actually bought it at the time?

I remember getting this not long after release ,but of course it had the original white cover which to my 12 year old eyes smacked of The Stones following The Beatles lead yet again which is how I saw it back then.Probably just as well The Stones didn't get their own way with their choice of cover as it was then easier to get parental approval to buy the record. Those were the days

Hard to argue though, with choons like "Love Is Strong" and "You Got Me Rocking" .............. still.
Dave, I think this a fine album but perhaps a tad too long so I tend to lop off 4 or 5 tracks to make it more lp length

Some great tunes on this - The La's only album from 1990 - Playing on Compact Disc on Go Discs
Had a listen to it, starts nice with the bass, but a bit too much of anything, so I will not get it - unless I get into it after multiple listens, but I don’t belief it...
I think this was rereleased as I find it on Qobuz, some interesting guitar work from the master, although style is not so consistent on the album...
Feels a bit as the Bad Plus, but then a bit more difficult to access...will need some more rounds to totally get into it....
