The Beatles - Let it Be, mid-70s UK vinyl
The last of my earworms from last week, and the first album I bought at the age of 12, still sounding good after 40+ years and some very ropy turntables. Even falling apart they wrote some classic songs, a level of pop that few bands ever equalled.
I think "Get Back" sounds especially great on this album although I wish they had included the coda

Herbie Hancock - "Quartet" (1982) Herbie Hancock - piano; Tony Williams - drums; Ron Carter - bass; and introducing Wynton Marsalis - trumpet. (Wynton's first solo album had just been released, as well.)
Herbie has the award for the most boring artist I have ever seen live Jeff.
That is unfortunate. I saw him with a quintet (Hancock, Williams, Carter, Wynton and Branford Marsalis) at the Mt Hood Jazz Festival and the group was quite good that day.

Dusty's so called come back album works really well with the Pet Shop Boys doing much of the arranging and production. Dusty is sadly missed in this household.

Sticking with Dusty because I'm bang in the mood.
Released 2004 - Fine gospel roots album from Mavis. ????
Anne-Sophie Mutter / ECO - Bach violin Concertos and Double Concerto (with Accardo), original UK vinyl
Wonderful disc, the Bach Double has one of the most contemplative movements ever written, surrounded by 2 movements of brilliant writing and playing, the two Concertos for solo violin are incredible expressions of music and often joy. The young Mutter plays them with bravado and technique, the interplay with Accardo in the Double is breathtaking, the ECO provide ideal backing.
Continuing with the Van the Man theme and Back on Top

One of my long standing favourite bands, but I'm not sure they ever really split up. They all continued to play on each others solo albums, and tours. See also - Jolie Holland, who embarked on a quirky solo career after a short time with the BGTs, Po' Girl (Vagabond Lullabies) etc.
George Michael
Ladies and Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael - CD 1 (For The Heart) - CD Rip
Last album of th night.
Good night.
1974 - Lynyrd Skynyrd - Second Helping...
Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die, 1980s vinyl
I was planning to finish with the Bach, Tony’s cassette played above made me feel the need to hear this album before bed. Steve Winwood’s voice works well over the long jazzy bluesy tracks, and the title track is a brilliant version of this traditional number.
Vinyl released 2009 - An overlooked gem from Staton who’s voice has that now aged maturity to deliver the passion of the song. Great album
Last one for the evening before watching some cricket highlights,Rick Wakeman - Piano Portraits

Not only is this one of the finest masterpieces of the rock genre, it is also undoubtedly one of the best album covers. Brilliant.
