What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Actually watching this via a live feed tonight from Bob Marley's estate even though I have a copy.
It was filmed this day in 1977.
1970 - vinyl - UK pressing...
Nigel Kennedy ECO, Vivaldi Four Seasons, WAV CD rip
Thanks as others said to Minh, it’s great to be reminded of this. Overall I think I prefer the Mullova I played above, but Kennedy is fantastic here, for example his performance In the Presto of Summer is spectacular in its pace, attack and personality, and brings out the music’s heart, brilliant musicality, and the orchestra hold their own with him.
When I was looking for the Traffic album on vinyl yesterday I pulled out his early Tchaikovsky recording, it’s amazing the difference in look, on the cover of that he was the Menuhin school pupil, within a few years he’d broken free from that visual stereotype. (The album is well worth a listen, lovely romantic performances of the Tchaikovsky and especially the Chausson, already showing his own personality.)

I have to admit that the album is completely different to anything the cover suggests - I had no idea if it was some goth/metal/rock/alternative/punk/indie group or an individual, and I was rather surprised at the sound of the first track after the few bars when I feared some new age 'crystally' elevator music.
I used to design elevators, but had no control over the Muzak. ????
Eric Clapton - The Dallas Cowboy . a 1976 broadcast recording from Texas.Above average recording with good instrument separation and decent set list.

Seen them live at the O2 Liverpool in November 2016. Great set, big disappointment was the very low turn out.
Original vinyl released 1975 - My fave Neil Young album. Had the privilege of seeing him doing it live at the Empire Liverpool 1973. The Eagles were the support band on that tour.
Steve Hackett - Genesis Revisited Live at Hammersmith CD 2, WAV CD rip
Change from the Baroque, Hackett’s 21st century band playing superb live performances faithful to the soul of Gabriel-era Genesis, the period he graced as guitarist. Great prog songs played by a superb band, and sung wonderfully.
Pete Townsend - Live, A Benefit for Maryville Academy, which features Townsend performing some favourites on both acoustic and electric guitars with minimal accompaniment.

Looks good again Alan.
Melissa Etheridge - Brave and Crazy, WAV CD rip
Superb rock, Etheridge writes raw-edged songs from the heart, with pounding rock backing and sings them with raw passion. From the tender ballad You Can Sleep While I Drive to various hard rockers, well-written songs in various styles, tight band, great vocalist, serious rock album.

Original vinyl released 1970 - collection of non-album singles and B-sides that was released only in the USA. I had to pre-order it at the time.

Good for you, Good night
To go with the low afternoon light and a warm breeze, a rare sweet synergy between two departed great musicians. Highly recommended.

For my own curiosity, which one did you attend?Mount Union College '71 in Alliance (now is Mount Union University) - golly, a mere 47 years ago
Thanks Jeff. Mount Union a true powerhouse in Division 3 football, more recently. Several of my high school teammates went on to play football for the Purple Raiders in the early '80's. Cheers!

A true oddity of singles and B-sides spanning the years. It was however sold internationally at the time (1970) and years later released in the UK. Haven't played it in ages, I'll have to dust it off.

First classical CD that I bought, but haven't played it in ages
- must rectify that.
Thanks for the reminder, Minh.
Alba, It was also one of the first classical CDs that I bought. What a coincidence. Purchased from the former HMV in Piccadilly Circus, London which had listening facilities so I could compare it with the other arrangements. I hope you enjoy the energy and enthusiasm that the young Nigel expresses so confidently. ATB Minh
Another dreary drizzly morning. The birds are quiet and nature seems to have retreated under the cover of diminished culpability. I am listening to one of my favourite choral arrangements: Renaissance - Music For Inner Peace performed by The Sixteen and conducted by Harry Christophers. Allegri's Miserere needs no further introduction, it is simply divine.
