Nigel Kennedy ECO, Vivaldi Four Seasons, WAV CD rip
Thanks as others said to Minh, it’s great to be reminded of this. Overall I think I prefer the Mullova I played above, but Kennedy is fantastic here, for example his performance In the Presto of Summer is spectacular in its pace, attack and personality, and brings out the music’s heart, brilliant musicality, and the orchestra hold their own with him.
Eoink, I completely agree. ATB Minh

Original vinyl released 1970 - collection of non-album singles and B-sides that was released only in the USA. I had to pre-order it at the time.
A true oddity of singles and B-sides spanning the years. It was however sold internationally at the time (1970) and years later released in the UK. Haven't played it in ages, I'll have to dust it off.
I didn’t know it was released over here on vinyl years later. I had to pre order it at the time from HMV in Liverpool and it arrived 3 weeks after it had been released in the USA.
Original first day vinyl released 1967 - came out 26th May 1967 in the “Summer Of Love”. It was bought as an early 14th birthday present as my birthday is 15th June. The albums never came sealed then (probably why they where never warped) the inner sleeve still has the price on it written in pencil 32/6d.
Still sounds better than all the reissues. ????
The Stones - Dirty Work, certainly not one of their best but always enjoy "One Hit to the Body"

Mono, I think the first Beatles stereo album was the White album which was released in both formats, and one format has McCartney shouting “ I’ve got blisters on my fingers” at the end of Helter Skelter. The other does not.
That’s why the stereo reissues sound awful. Best going for the mono set and buying the rest separately.

I have the first pressing in mono, and AFAIK, SP was released in mono and stereo on the same day. Mono miles better.
UK first pressing from 1979. The late great Can bassist-cum-mad scientistr's solo debut. Holger Czukay was a genius, way ahead of the curve inthe use of found sounds/sampling. This superb album, which features the other members of Can, moves from daft pop ("Cool in the Pool") to the jaw-dropping guitar conversations on "Lord Give Us More Money";"Persian Love", meanwhile, is simply lovely.

Well you have me there as I always assumed it was released in mono. Haven’t said that most people had radiograms in their living rooms then, so perhaps stereo was a luxury.

First classical CD that I bought, but haven't played it in ages
- must rectify that.
Thanks for the reminder, Minh.
Alba, It was also one of the first classical CDs that I bought. What a coincidence. Purchased from the former HMV in Piccadilly Circus, London which had listening facilities so I could compare it with the other arrangements. I hope you enjoy the energy and enthusiasm that the young Nigel expresses so confidently. ATB Minh

Strangely, and some might say 'disgracefully', this is the only recording I have of "The Four Seasons', so, to me, it seems quite 'normal'; I really should get a more traditional reading, though, by way of (considerable?) contrast.
Sorry to hear about the inclement weather, and not meaning to 'rub it in', but the sun's 'cracking the pavements' in this part of the world; we could actually do with a drop of rain, as it's been very dry for some time, now - problem is, when the rain starts 'round here', it usually forgets to stop!

There is absolutely nothing disgraceful about owning one copy. It is probably more disgraceful that I have a copy of Storm by Vanessa Mae. It's at the other end of the spectrum compared to traditional arrangements, but it sounds absolutely delightful to my ears.
In the UK, it is considered normal for us to have four seasons in one day. I hope your monsoon arrives duly!
Good solid JJ Cale album from 1981 - Playing on Compact Disc on MCA - He makes every song sound so easy
Now Playing.........
Chris Stapleton - Traveller
Streaming on NAS........ My favorite Chris Stapleton album, and he doesn't have a bad one, and a great way to start this Tuesday morning! Chris is a great songwriter& musician and brings the songs to life along with his wife Morgan.
Released 1994 - Fine album backed by great session personnel. Some excellent Cooder guitar on this one. ????
On vinyl...
Both iconic albums
