On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Larry Coryell - Barefoot Boy
Great album by Larry Coryell. It's a mix of jazz, rock and funk. Also good solo's by Steve Marcus (the sax player).
- Bass – Mervin Bronson
- Congas [Conga] – Lawrence Killian
- Drums – Roy Haynes
- Guitar – Larry Coryell
- Percussion – Harry Wilkinson
- Piano – Mike Mandel
- Soprano Saxophone – Steve Marcus
Now Playing.........
Chris Stapleton - From A Room: Volume 1
Streaming on NAS......... Continuing on with Chris with his second album, wonderful vocals and music.........
Vinyl released 1974 - A great Leon Russell album, with a fine version of "If I Were A Carpenter". ????
Tabby cat posted:Good solid JJ Cale album from 1981 - Playing on Compact Disc on MCA - He makes every song sound so easy
fine album, have it also.
Turning up the Rock in the office - Ronnie James Dio certainly breathed new life into Sabbath with this and I do love Ozzy - Playing on Compact Disc on Warner Brothers Records 1980

Great album, produced by Walter Becker. ????
On Vinyl - first pressing
Genesis - A Trick of the Tail
Over The Rhine - "Drunkard's Prayer" (2005) I guess this would be a cross between chamber/pop with a touch of americana/country and perhaps a side bit of acousticy guitar/piano for spice. Ah hell, just give it a listen or ignore the description and just look at the picture. Good stuff, live on the edge.
Eddie Jefferson - The Man Man
Eddie Jefferson's final recording before his tragic death is a tour de force session that showcases a love for big-band type horn sections, his indefatigable ability to scat and write original vocalese lyrics, and his enthusiasm for life.
Released 1965 - upbeat, humble and thoroughly entertaining. Lovely stuff ????
From 1980 and sounding as fresh as the day it was recorded: Buggles - The Age of Plastic. Playing on CD and thoroughly enjoying the nostalgia.
Now Playing.......
Mighty Mo Rogers - Blues is My Wailing Wall
Streaming on TIDAL......... Moving on to the blues with Mighty Mo Rogers and on fantastic album!
1972 - Vinyl - US first pressing...

Love the work of Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler and have a number of the 'Over The Rhine' albums, Karin has fantastic vocals and enjoy the songwriting and music from this couple.
Patty Griffin - "Children Running Through" (2007) If you don't know PG music you should. And if you do, FWIW this my favorite. PG is one of the best.
I am doing well today - I took my meds just in time. Pst, stay out of the Hi-Fi room.
A fine compilation of Shoe Gazing legends My Bloody Valentine - Playing quite loud on Vinyl on Lazy Records 1989
Red vinyl released 2017 - apparently it had been gathering dust for 50 years. Glad someone had the nous to release it. Great album with a who knows who backing. ????
Electric Light Orchestra
Out Of The Blue - 24/96
Outstanding album.

I have to admit that the album is completely different to anything the cover suggests - I had no idea if it was some goth/metal/rock/alternative/punk/indie group or an individual, and I was rather surprised at the sound of the first track after the few bars when I feared some new age 'crystally' elevator music.
IMO, Neko, personality-wise, is a bit like Tori Amos. She does and feels whatever pops into her mind at the moment. Excellent artist. She lost her home to fire not so long ago, perhaps that is reflected in her cover. If not aware, she is also a member of The New Pornographers music group, and as HH mentioned, the so far one-off Case/Lang/Veirs release.
(1967)
Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale
Lovely music to accompany what has been yet another cloudless warm day. This one was ripped from a Cube Label CD pressed in France circa 1988, it's a fine sounding Mono recording.
Again this one, it’s so great...

Pete Townsend - Live, A Benefit for Maryville Academy, which features Townsend performing some favourites on both acoustic and electric guitars with minimal accompaniment.
Unfortunately, the above is not on Spotify. But, it made me think of this, which is.
Pete Townshend and Ronnie Lane - "Rough Mix" (1977)
(2017)
Gregg Allman - Southern Blood
One of last year's finest albums, what a really great one to check with. Thanks for all the music, Gregg.

Alexis Korner played this on his radio show when it came out. I bought it! A fine album that I haven't played in a while. I will have wait to unpack my records to play it again so a visit to Spotify may be required.
Phil Woods & Gordon Beck - Live at the Wigmore hall
Phil Woods - Sax; Gordon Beck - Piano.
Great jazz by these two gentlemen.
