On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.

If you upload to Bandcamp any more official boots do remember to play them here, a fantastic band.

There are three in the pipeline, Eoin (from February, May and June of this year). All great quality in terms of SQ and performance.
George Benson - Jazz masters 21
A nice collection of jazz music from George Benson (it consists mostly of late-'60s recordings).
Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, WAV CD rip
I think this album was a recommendation from Bert, after a family member introduced me to the band a few months ago. Thanks, this is wonderful stuff, prog-metal, good songs, classic prog sound-effect stuff, chiming and rocking guitars, these guys can really play and the singer is damn good.
On CD:-
John hiatt - Bring The Family
Original vinyl (no pic of that)
Why? I browsing the racks and this caught my eye.

Out Of The Blue - 24/96
Outstanding album.

My father bought the original vinyl and I recall assembling the cardboard spaceship model included - thoroughly enjoyed it as a youngster at a time when I loved all things sci-fi. I still have the original copy somewhere.
I bought quite a few ELO albums on Qobuz in HiRes and I keep coming back to this, though I know most of them well.
Picked up a re-issue copy in Sainsburys a few weeks ago after I found my LP12's platter which I'd been hunting for for months. As I was leaving the shop a chap noticed what was in the trolley and mentioned what a great album it was, and that it was his first album purchase. It's actually quite interesting seeing the reactions of people at the till when you buy vinyl in a supermarket.
In 2015, Bruce Hornsby released a double album The Essential Bruce Hornsby under the Sony label. Three tracks have been remastered: The Way It Is, The Valley Road and Across The River. This is a collection of his greatest hits including live recordings. Listening on CD and loving every minute.

I bought the album fairly close to release, as a poor teenager, and like you assembled the spaceship. When I left home for college I left it behind, I moved back for a few years after graduation, (ahead of my time in the early ‘80s). When I bought a flat my mum asked me to leave it behind she’d grown to love it over the years and would miss it. Some time in the early 2000s I went to see her and it was gone, she’d had a clear out and thrown it out, I was heartbroken, I’d always thought I’d get it back one day. I still play the original vinyl.
1992 - Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies...
Released 1988 - I needed cheering up. Great album. ????

Like you do.
Therein lies a story!

Has anyone noticed that some of the albums are made exclusively to Sainsburys in Orange vinyl. There's a sticker on the front cover promoting it.????
The League Unlimited Orchestra - Love and Dancing , the mostly instrumental remix of The Human League's album Dare.
Dire Straits
On Every Street - CD Rip

1995 - vinyl...
This evening's play kicked off with this classic from 1983; The Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops.
It's still an incredible album, with music and sound quality ranking equally high. This early issue marginally outshines the slightly later Virgin one that I bought more recently, just so I could have a mint spare should I ever wear this one out! The CD sounds really good too, but whenever I get out the early LP for a spin it never fails to amaze and leaves the CD as an also-ran.
Inevitably I moved straight on to this, the Blue Nile's Sophomore release from 6 years later - Hats.
It may have been a long wait for the follow-up, but it was definitely worth it. Another astonishing album, with equally fine music and sound. If I hadn't had to cook supper I would have gone straight on to putting on their next album, Peace At Last, but it's a double and I decided to call it a day. Two such glorious albums in a row was just enough.

I left it in the sun decades ago and it's warped to hell but still sounds good!
Never owned this, and trying to figure out if i want it on vinyl re-issue.
Have owned this on CD and original vinyl (Gene - Olympian), currently playing via Qobuz app - the vinyl will be better when I find it. One of my favourite 90's albums:
EDIT:
Oh heck, I thought something was lacking via the Nova in-built amp - just reconnected to a '10-day cold' NAP 250 and wow!

I still find it hard to believe they hadn’t played together before, they were so good on this.
Released 2001 - Hiatt has got some output and very seldom releases a bad album. This one is up there.
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath, 24/96 download
The Dream Theater I played earlier put this in my head, and what a great album it is. Amazingly melodic and even bluesy, Ozzy sings fantastically well, the band are stunning, Iommi really nails those power chords. Early metal, but much more than that, great unironic metal lyrics, and a stunning band playing a new sound while still honouring the past, great metal.
