What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Van Morrison - Common One, perfect for a summer's evening as the songs drift along in a jazzy, laid back groove. Amazingly two tracks clock in at 15 minutes apeice and still keep your attention.

Like you do.
Therein lies a story!
Has anyone noticed that some of the albums are made exclusively to Sainsburys in Orange vinyl. There's a sticker on the front cover promoting it.????
Not opened my copy yet but can't see a sticker about orange vinyl - I hope not anyway.

Very underrated album.
Elton John - Honky Chateau
Original vinyl via Oxfam. Sounds stonkingly good. I'm not much of a disciple but this has got to be near his best. Hasn't it?!

The clear vinyl is the worst, you end up with nausea ????
Easy Star All Stars - Dub Side of the Moon, WAV CD rip
I’m pretty sure this is the world’s greatest dub reggae cover band, here taking on prog’s most famous album. It’s brilliant, a heavy dub beat, reggae vocal improv, but it’s somehow so fatheful, great for reggae and Floyd fans both.

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath, 24/96 download
The Dream Theater I played earlier put this in my head, and what a great album it is. Amazingly melodic and even bluesy, Ozzy sings fantastically well, the band are stunning, Iommi really nails those power chords. Early metal, but much more than that, great unironic metal lyrics, and a stunning band playing a new sound while still honouring the past, great metal.
I was a big Sabbath fan back in my teens, still am I guess! the original lineup that is. Still have all the albums on original vinyl, used to play them at full tilt after school on my Dads quad electrostatics of all things, if only he knew!
2015 - Vinyl...

Such a brilliant album. When the CD was first released it lived in my car for the best part of a year. More recently I came across a sealed copy of the LP, which I couldn't resist. Upon opening it, I discovered that the vinyl was green! It was fun listening to it again, but this time spinning on the record player.

I didn’t know it was released on vinyl, off to discogs I go, thanks Richard.
Found an “anniversary edition” new on the river, ordered.
Now Playing.......
John Hiatt - The Tiki Bar Is Open
Streaming on TIDAL....... Going with a mention from DAN STEEL and taking John out for a spin.......and he is sounding mighty fine on the opening track, got the toes tapping and legs swaying on the opening number......
(1973)
Steely Dan - Countdown To Ecstacy
Just in and needed a quick musical fix of some quality, this fine recording caught my eye, ripped from early (1985) MCA label CD.

I think this album was a recommendation from Bert, after a family member introduced me to the band a few months ago. Thanks, this is wonderful stuff, prog-metal, good songs, classic prog sound-effect stuff, chiming and rocking guitars, these guys can really play and the singer is damn good.
Ian, they are a cracking band, as you like this you could do worse than have a look at the River where you can pick up a really fine 11 CD box set of all their studio albums from 1992 - 2011 for about £17 plus delivery, FWIW I totally recommend it as a real bargain.
Prompted by [@mention:6917038660692026]'s post earlier, I think I'll does up on a bit of Spritualised. On original 1997 UK CD:

I think a bit like Rod Stewart, Elton suffers from a period where they were each seen as “pop” and people pigeonholed them, whereas if you listen to their catalogues, Rod is one of the great soul voices and rock singers, and Elton/Taupin wrote some of the greatest rock songs and Elton nailed them.
Etienne Forget - Missions OST
The soundtrack to the really very good French Sci-Fi series (available on the BBC iPlayer). Streamed it from Qobuz two nights running - full of synthy goodness in a Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre vein. It’s a great listen in its own right - you don’t have to have watched the shows (I’m still in the middle).

Thanks Steve, serious bargain, I think I got a 5 CD set and this double, but I’ll check. They are really good.

My fave Dan album liked them better when they were a band. ????
A bit of a Talk Talk fest tonight.
Started with this
Ending with this.
Two albums i never get tired of listening to.
After discussing Elton John thought I'd play the album that followed Honky Chateau ,and that is Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player .Must admit I do tend to skip "Crocodile Rock" though
