On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
2001 - Tidal...

Acknowledging the brilliance of Mike Oldfield & the pioneering leading edge recording that was Tubular Bells, for me Tubular Bells II is my prefered choice for a better listen.
Album 3 from this fine 2016 vinyl set. ????

Thank you for reminding me Mike. I also have the second album. I'll give it a spin later on in the week. Wishing you a good day.
1984 - Tidal...
Van Morrison - Born to Sing: No Plan B, each track is more a groove than a structured song ,but still brilliant.
Mark Knopfler - One Take Radio Sessions, live in the studio renditions of songs from the Shangi-La album.Excellent
In 1995, Alanis Morissette released her third studio album Jagged Little Pill under Westlake Studio Recordings. Although she had released two previous albums in her native Canada, this was the first worldwide release. She combines meaningful lyrics with her distinctive style of alternative/pop rock and grunge to produce an album that stands the test of time. Listening on CD.
Double vinyl released 2009 - Ambient side of folk, great album. ????
1997 - Tidal...
Continuing the morning's laidback selections with Ry Cooder - Paradise and Lunch, a beautiful sounding recording.
Ry Cooder - Paris, Texas.
Can I play too? ................now that I've finally succeeded in getting The Stones out of my system, well, for now anyway.
A great Live set from Joey B + Beth Hart - Recorded Live in Amsterdam in 2014 - Playing on Compact Disc

Think I'll be reaching for Prodigal Son next

Good call, and. as has been mentioned before on here, a fine return to form for Ry, following the long sequence of "story telling" albums.
Mind you, I still prefer the "live in the studio" version of Prodigal Son which I posted here a while back.
Now Playing.......
Marc Ford - Holy Ghost
Streaming on NAS......... No particular reason, just an enjoyable album that has not been out for a spin in awhile. It's Friday, I'm tired and ready for the weekend to begin and Marc is sounding mighty fine this morning! Bring on the day........
Vinyl released 1986 - One of Costello’s finest. ????
In 1989, Texas released their debut album Southside under the Mercury label. This album quintessentially defines their original sound before they became more mainstream. I saw them live at the London Astoria many moons ago before it was demolished to make way for the Crossrail Project. Listening on CD whilst being flooded with wonderful memories from the past.
Running through the new Spock’s Beard album...
Ali Farka Toure - Savane.
Moving onto music not a million miles away in spirit from that of Señor Cooder ^ , this one from the late, great, Ali Farka Toure is
highly recommended, and is there on Tidal.
Good debut album from The Yardbirds - Playing on Cassette TDK AR C60
Ali Farka Toure with Ry Cooder - Talking Timbuktu.
Been playing both Ry Cooder & Ali Farka Toure ^ , so why not combine the two with this most excellent album, which shows most
clearly the connection between African trance blues, and it's subsequent American descendant.
Again, this one's available on Tidal, and, if you're not familiar with it, I urge you to have a listen.
On CD
+1 and all that Dave for Talking Timbuktoo.Fabulous album. So atmospheric and dreamy on some tracks. The guitar work out between Ry and Ali on Amandrai is fabulous - Essential album for any collection in my opinion
Tommy Flanagan - Jazz poet
Good mainstream jazz by the Tommy Flanagan trio.
