On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
This is a nice album, heard it already a couple of times now...
Quickly checked in on this in between to see if I wanted to buy the discounted bundle on eclassical, and yes I liked it...
I then switched to this very fine album, will be high on quite of number best of lists in this forum...
I finally now landed at this album, also interesting...

Goat - Commune
On with some more contemporary psychedelic rock with a very good take on it by this fine off beat Swedish outfit who (until their latest album) make great music that draws you in with it's compulsive rhythms and beats.
Great call, Steve. Had no idea what to play until you came up with those nutters...
I’ll follow that with their double live album.
Have a great musical weekend.
Cheers
2013 - double live vinyl...
Just booked to see Lisa Hannigan at the Barbican in October so thought I should give At Swim an airing. Lovely voice and interesting songs.

Nice one Tony, I was tempted to go with (this) their fine live bash but I need to walk the new addition to the family so I went for Commune in its stead which is 30 minutes or so shorter.
Thanks and great music to you too.
Cheers

Boston - CD Rip

The frequency at which I pull this out for a play is much less days compared to when I first heard it. Nonetheless it still retains that haunting magical quality.
Prince - The Truth. an acoustic guitar album that was purchased in America as part of the Crystal Ball 4 cd set.Prince "unplugged" ,very melodic and its pretty nifty.
John Lee Hooker - Down Child.
I've been playing trance blues all afternoon, so here's one from John Lee Hooker, the king of the genre, IMHO.

Know what you mean, MDS - I played Felt Mountain a couple of nights ago for the first time in years, after vastly overplaying it initially - took me to another place! The arrangements are superb, and Alison Goldfrapp's quirky and whimsical voice floats my boat.

Ranting Sleazos - Never Lost for Words, original Uk vinyl
A female acapella trio, with occasional, bits of keyboard or drum backing. I grabbed a set of records from the shelf for a lucky dip, and thought I’d give this a spin for the first time in years. I heard them at Cambridge Folk Festival in 1989 or 1990 (based on album date of 1989), and picked this up from Festival Records there. A few protest classics, plus a set of their own self-penned numbers, some political numbers, but mostly fun tracks. The housework shanty “(It’s 40 years I’ve been like this, cleaning, sweeping, it’s 40 years I’ve been like this, dust, dust away... and we’re all bound for Tescos in the morning”) gives an idea. They harmonised well, and took good lead vocals, I’m pretty sure this was their only album, shame, it’s great fun, well sung and enjoyable.
Now Playing......
Prince - The Truth
Streaming on TIDAL...... After listening to "Mary Don't You Weep" above I just needed to hear from Prince and "The Truth" is a fantastic album to lift me up this Friday afternoon!
Stevee,
Listening to your recomendation of Heron Oblivion off You Tube and have played "Beneath Fields " and thought it was brilliant...top,top track.Currently on "Rama".....very chilled and nice guitar.....Big Thanks for this Cheers Ian
Continued with Dizzy...
Very nice sound and playful jazz from Nico Morelli
Steve Winwood - Refugees OF The Heart,
Otis Taylor - White African.
Last one of the day, with yet more trance blues.
Otis Taylor cites John Lee Hooker as a major influence, and certainly, the ghost of John Lee runs through much of his music.
A modern day blues master, this one's on Tidal, so, go on, have a listen ............ you will most certainly not be disappointed.
U2 - One Tree Hill, original UK vinyl
For me their finest album, songs that range from hard rock to a tender ballad about a dead friend, with stadium rock numbers in the middle. Clayton and Mullen are a rock solid rhythm duo and classily musical, the Edge chimes away superbly and inventively, and Bono is pretty near perfect in his own style. It’s a band who’ve become superstars showing they have the confidence to do a semi-concept album about America and their world-view, and pulling it off, great songs sung and played by a band of real world-class.
