Last year's thread can be found here:
Now Playing.......
Leonard Cohen - Ten New Songs

Seen him do it live at the Philharmonic Liverpool Brilliant ????
UFO - Obsession, original (remaindered clipped corner) UK vinyl
I haven’t played this for at at least 20 years as far as I can remember, it was next to the U2 in the record cabinet and I had a quick nostalgia hit and took it out. It’s a damn fine piece of hard rock, I had a memory it was more heavy metal, but instead it’s pretty good melodic hard rock, and most of the songs triggered a “Oh that is from this album?!” from me. Good tuneful rock songs, nice rock vocals, Michael Schenker is very classy on guitar offering melodic lines, spitting attack and driving hard rock, good rhythm section as well. Classy rock album, I’ll listen to it again.
Had a belly full of Liverpool’s finest bitter. So I’m retiring with this vinyl from one of the pools great bands. . ????
The Byrds - Live at the Albert Hall 1971 - original UK vinyl
A aoundboard recording, issued about 10 years ago when McGuinn found it in his garage. The later Byrds lineup, so none of the heavenly harmonies from McGuinn/Crosby/Hillman, but McGuinn is in fine voice, and the guitar work is sublime, McGuinn his usual masterful self, and Clarence White stunning on the Tele. The rhythm section is competent rather than stellar, and the sound is occasionally unbalanced (usually vocal dominates), but worth it to hear 2 great guitarists playing great songs with good backing. Rock/folk/country style songs.
Audio quality for this CD is second to none.

Willie Nelson - Last Man Standing
Streaming on TIDAL.......... Friday evening, extra 60 minutes added to a short commute due to crazy traffic, when the bus is 35 minutes late and the short ride of about 5 miles takes an extra 25 minutes then a walk home in a light rain has made me feel like the "Last Man Standing" and thought that Willie's latest album would be appropriate........
Now Playing.......
Ray Willie Hubbard - Loco Gringo's Lament
Streaming on NAS......... Love Ray, great songwriter, musician and performer and this album is my favorite. Released 23 years ago and his songs and music still bring a smile to my face today.
Got this today at Goodwill for 99 cents plus tax.
Wish I'd saved the buck...

Justin Adams - Desert Road.
Still on the desert trance blues vibe, this one, Justin's debut solo album is a stunner, and points the way to much of his subsequent
work, both under his own name, and with Robert Plant's Sensational Space Shifters ........................ highly recommended,
and available on Tidal.
Said this on here before Dave. One of my bosses wife is Justins kids God Mother.

I've only ever listened to it once, and not all the way through. To label it avant-garde would be an understatement. I think I paid $8 for my used CD, so feel fortunate you cut your loss to a buck.
First one of the day and prompted by Ewemon this great album from 2001

Listening to your recomendation of Heron Oblivion off You Tube and have played "Beneath Fields " and thought it was brilliant...top,top track.Currently on "Rama".....very chilled and nice guitar.....Big Thanks for this Cheers Ian
I'm glad you like it, Ian. It was Bruce Woodhouse of this parish who flagged it up to the forum by doing a very good write up of its style and content. HO recorded and published a live album called The Chapel based heavily around this album it's also worth a listen. Both can be found over on bandcamp here.
I'm so glad this gift is still giving!
Oddly I just bought a track by Goat after hearing it on the radio and thought it sounded not too dissimilar to the Heron Oblivion. It is great fun.
It is on Bandcamp, Goat 'Let It burn'

It's still giving indeed! I was playing Goat last night, (the Commune album) and can recommend both that and their World Music (studio albums), Live Ballroom Ritual is also very good in their barking mad kind of way, very enjoyable. However I was very disappointed by their latest album and have not played it since a first listen.
ATB and thanks again for Heron Oblivion.
Steve
I'd never heard them before. The track above sounds like the mutant child of Led Zep and Jethro Tull (it has a flute).
It is a bit mad. My wife rarely asks me to 'turn it down' but on this one.....
Bruce
Very sad news that Danny Kirwan has passed away - RIP
Qobuz 16/44.1 streaming;
Vinyl released 1961 - Fine debut album from Burton. ????
Really good Paisley Underground Psychedelic Rock album from The Rain Parade - Emergency Third Rail Power Trip - Playing on Vinyl on Zippo Records 1983
Tunng - ABOP
This track is from a reunion album due out in August (Songs You Make At Night). Quirky folktronica with (on this track) more than a hint of solo Ian Brown. It, like the video, draws you into itself in a thoroughly charming way. Looking forward to the release of the whole thing.
