On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
S/h vinyl
Why? Seemed like a good idea.

In 1992, R.E.M. released their eighth studio album Automatic for the People under Warner Bros Records. It includes the hits Drive, Man on the Moon, The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite, Everybody Hurts, Nightswimming and Find the River. Enjoying very much on CD but I find Drive to be really echoey. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be really 'muddled' or if this is an after effect of the 4.6 firmware - it's been a while since I've been able to appreciate some of their finest songs. A hidden gem on this album is New Orleans Instrumental No. 1 which features some really nice strings. In fact, I find the whole album to be very good indeed!
So relaxing on a lovely evening.
Songhoy Blues - Resistance.
Great selection of songs with a guest appearance by Iggy Pop on Sahara.
Billy Preston - That's the Way God PLanned It, a cheesy cover but there's nothing cheesy about the music.Helped of course by George Harrison and some "heavy" friends ( as they used to say )
In 1994, Deacon Blue released their greatest hits album Our Town under Columbia. The CD contains three new singles whereas the vinyl contains four. Sounding fantastic on CD and I love those drums, especially on Dignity.
Double vinyl released 2013 - Marvellous stuff.
Just finished this. Emmylou Harris - Bluebird (on vinyl). Contains a good cover of John Hiatt's Icy Blue Heart.
Newton Faulkner- Hand Built By Robots, a mostly self-penned debut that also includes a great cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrop".A very percussive style of guitar playing.

Bentley Caldwell - A Place To Be
Streaming on NAS......... Taking out Benley's first album release out of a spin, a six track 23 minute affair, and his songs are quite good. If you enjoyed "The Place That I Call Home" I recommend you give this a listen. Sounding mighty sweet!
Yes it is also good, didn’t yet find an option to buy it....yet
Now playing 'Til Tuesday - Everything's Different Now. If you like Aimee Mann, I think you'll like this, as this is the band she was in before going solo.
Last album of the evening. I think I'm still somewhat bewitched by Nerina Pallot's Stay Lucky.
Last of the day...
First Aid Kit - Ruins
This has grown on me over the past few months.
Released 2016 - Great album ????
Ella Fitzgerald - The Irving Berlin Songbook Vol 1

It is indeed a good album, with some really catchy pop melodies. I particularly like ‘J for Jules’. One of her best IMHO, alongside Bachelor No. 2.

Natalie Merchant - Paradise Is There -- The New Tigerlily Recordings
Streaming on NAS........ Just arrived this afternoon, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. One fantastic album from Natalie!
This morning begins with a beautiful collection of Cello Suites composed by Bach and performed by Yo-Yo Ma. This is probably one of the best recordings that I have come across and in my humble opinion it surpasses the recording he made in the 1980s. The bow dances with the strings and both resonate harmoniously. An absolute delight to listen on CD.
Released 2018 - First play - class album. ????
In 1997, Enya released her first greatest hits album Paint the Sky with Stars under Warner Music. In my humble opinion, this is the only Enya album that you need to own because it contains all of her finest compositions. A truly beautiful collection of songs from a very special Irish singer, songwriter and musician. Playing on CD.
Stephen Hough playing some spritely, invigorating Chopin on Breakfast on R3. The rent-a-quote blokes on Today became too much.
Fleetwood Mac - Tango In The Night
Easy listening. Gets me going.
Good Flaming Groovies Bootleg - Playing on Cassette on a TDK AD C90
