Lyle Lovett - I Love Everybody

One of Lyle's finest. Bonkers and brilliant.

He can do no wrong in my book - the quality of his albums is remarkably consistent.

Future Islands - "The Far Field".  When I first got this I was a bit disappointed, but it has really grown on me and I now like it as much as their previous effort, "Singles". I think there is a touch of New Order about them.

This morning begins with a beautiful collection of Cello Suites composed by Bach and performed by Yo-Yo Ma. This is probably one of the best recordings that I have come across and in my humble opinion it surpasses the recording he made in the 1980s. The bow dances with the strings and both resonate harmoniously. An absolute delight to listen on CD.

Minh, because of this post I went to visit the river and I am now in possession of this beautiful pair of discs. His playing is indeed sublime. They have barely been off since they arrived. Thank you.

Lutyens, It is one of my favourite renditions and it warms my heart to read your kind words. Wishing you a good day.

I hate the title, sounding like they are Yo-Yo Ma's suites only inspired by Bach.. I highly recommend the suites performed by Martin Zeller on MA Recordings (nothing to do with Yo-Yo):

Boz Scaggs - A Fool To Care

Boz Scaggs - A Fool To Care

Streaming on TIDAL......  Having read through an organizational proposal today that looks like something from the '80's.... or the '90's....., or possibly the 00's or maybe the earlier 10's......   At times I just have to think......"A Fool To Care".......   Anyway I know that Boz really cares and this is one fine album!  Listening to Bonnie Raitt and Boz singing 'Hell To Pay' right now is worth the price of admission!..... and latter on there is Boz and Lucinda Williams on 'Whispering Pines'.........

Paris or maybe Hell......

apart from that shocking Stones cover, some of Bowie’s stronger tracks, especially lyrically are on this one. And what a cover, talk about iconic.

Hell, because it was fun and silly, some of the tracks had highly non-PC videos (Gay Bar), and it was a great album to exercise to.

Also stands out as life seemed much better in 2003 - too many friends and relatives have died or become unwell since then.  Did we even use the phrase PC in 2003?

No specific reason to choose this either it's just one of a handful of old CDs I'm ripping....

Everybody Digs Bill Evans was a 1959 landmark recording for the young pianist and sported a unique album cover, featuring written-out endorsements from Miles Davis, George Shearing, Ahmad Jamal, and Cannonball Adderley.

A masterpiece by any measure, Tony. And that’s just the cover. The music is on a higher level again.

King Crimson - Red

Why? Well, because it is surely one of the finest prog' rock albums ever created, beautifully played classic tracks everywhere. Sounding fine from an original 1987 Japanese Toshiba - EMI Label CD.

The title track sounds so weird, using the diminished scale almost exclusively. Brilliant idea and so well executed. I must play this. Thanks for the reminder.
