Some fine bop here with the smooth (but not sickly) tone of Mr. Turrentine. Great recording too.

I don't think I'll be bothering with the football. So have about this?

This has to be Trane at his most avant-garde. Not as far out as Ornette, but ear stretching nonetheless.

Calexico - Carried to Dust

This is easing the pain of watching England on TV (sound muted). Calexico delivering their fine stuff as usual.

"The Incredible Jimmy Smith" - I'm Movin' On.

A great trio album with Grant Green and Donald Bailey.

"Less overtly adventurous than its predecessor, Empyrean Isles, Maiden Voyage nevertheless finds Herbie Hancock at a creative peak. In fact, it's arguably his finest record of the '60s, reaching a perfect balance between accessible, lyrical jazz and chance-taking hard bop."(AllMusic)

On this cloudy morning where the rays of the sun are obscured by looming rain clouds, I am listening to Kim Wilde and her greatest hits album. Some really good singles to brighten up the day. Listening on CD on MCA.
