On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
On CD:-
James Taylor - In The Pocket
On CD:-
Dr John - Television
Some fine bop here with the smooth (but not sickly) tone of Mr. Turrentine. Great recording too.
Before settling down to watch England v Tunisia, one fional Zep SHMCD:
On vinyl...
(2012)
Soën - Cognitive
Because I fancied more of the same and this was a pretty good debut album.
I don't think I'll be bothering with the football. So have about this?
This has to be Trane at his most avant-garde. Not as far out as Ornette, but ear stretching nonetheless.
Simple Minds
Real Life (2002 Remaster) - CD Rip
Edward
(2008)
Calexico - Carried to Dust
This is easing the pain of watching England on TV (sound muted). Calexico delivering their fine stuff as usual.
Tabby cat posted:Superb debut album by Royal Blood from 2014 - Wow what a wall of sound from just a duo of Bass and DRums - Playing on Cassette on TDK SA C60
Not for the faint-hearted is that one.
Playing on Vinyl on Jamaican Records on 180 g Vinyl - Heavy Bass Lines from Don Carlos
James Hunter - The Hard Way, became aware of this chap through his spell of working with Van Morrison.
Taster for you
"The Incredible Jimmy Smith" - I'm Movin' On.
A great trio album with Grant Green and Donald Bailey.
"Less overtly adventurous than its predecessor, Empyrean Isles, Maiden Voyage nevertheless finds Herbie Hancock at a creative peak. In fact, it's arguably his finest record of the '60s, reaching a perfect balance between accessible, lyrical jazz and chance-taking hard bop."(AllMusic)
