Strongest taste to this superband is the Flower Kings Sound...
Have just listened to 'Don't cry for me Argentina' by Julie Covington on YouTube via my laptop. Makes Madonna's version sound like a karaoke attempt.
Absolutely stunning even through tiny speakers and, doubtless, a highly processed digital chain - great detail and the emotion of the song bleeds through in spades. It's one of those moments where I question myself on why I haven't got this already! ..it's now on the way.
I have a very vague recollection of Julie Covington doing TV in the 1970's and I'm aware she turned down the lead in Evita...and the rest is history for Elaine Paige.

I have a 'best of' compilation album of Julie Covington, which I purchased mainly because of that song. I also recall where I first heard (of) her, which was on a TV drama programme in the late '70s called Rock Follies which also featured Rula Lenska and Charlotte Cornwell.
BNL always send me to a happy place

Such an evocative album, well for me anyway. Brings back so many memories.
Just gave it a listen, it's very good. I remember the the hit single Chuck E, but never heard the entire album in all these years.

Streaming on Tidal, my introduction to synth rock back in the mid 70’s, still stands the test of time. Have the original slightly scruffy vinyl somewhere too!
Quite a few posts on here about the Rickie Lee Jones album. It is a classic. Her subsequent albums are also excellent and well worth investigating.
Lou Reed - Transformer (1972). Bowie fans should like this one,

1974 Empire Pool Wembley BBC Archive - This is by far and away the best dynamics and clarity I’ve heard on a live PF recording...or any live recording. Not many are this visceral.
It’s my ‘go to’ DSOTM.
Echoes being a bonus of course.
