On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Keith Jarrett’s Paris / London (Testament)
A great live recording being given its first spin. Enjoying it so far.....
First, Lucinda Williams - West
Now, Thom Yorke - The Eraser
Currency of Man - Melody Gardot’s - CD
Just relaxing and enjoying the rawness of this album even at a modest 8 o’clock. This is no smooth Diana Krall jazz but seat of the edge stuff with great intimacy.
Did anyone read Steve Job’s Deathbed Words of Wisdom on Life? He died of Pancreatic Cancer. I had a close escape. Only three months to the start of my Camino Frances fundraising adventure walking 500 miles to Santiago de Compostela to raise funds for my Prostate Cancer Charity. Let me know if you want to donate. Now on to her Worrisome Heart.
Been very busy with gardening and getting our 400 year old former home ready to let as a Room Let with generous shared space. Previously let to a family for 5 1/2 years but not many ready to pay the rent it deserves. 2 rooms let in as many days. 2 to go before HMO licence needed for 5 and planning for 6 or more. Regulations! It is like a paradise with beautiful gardens and lots of inside space. So far so good.

Nils Frahm - Felt
I was on the verge of some Radiohead but my heart said Nils.
A great slice of tuneful seventies' pop, from a great film. On vinyl.
Sebastian Knauer - Uberbach
Music composed by Arash Safaian based on Bach's music. Very nice.
From amazon:
The UberBach album is a collection of compositions by the Munich-based composer Arash Safaian on themes by Johann Sebastian Bach. Safaian starts off with various pieces by Bach- chorales, orchestral works, organ and clavier music- and works with them to create five concertos for piano, vibraphone and chamber orchestra. Arash Safaians musical partner is the internationally acclaimed pianist Sebastian Knauer. Sebastian Knauer writes of this project: When I heard the first example of UberBach, I was enthusiastic about the project at once. The virtuosity of the piano part, the melodiousness of the compositions and the closely woven sound made a deep impression on me. I imagined I was listening to Bach and yet it sounded too modern for the original. He called his long-time musical partner, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the very next day and organized the recording. Arash Safaian is an artist, composer, and producer. He is the son of artist Ali Akbar Safaian, an important representative of Iranian modernism. Born in Teheran, he grew up in Bayreuth, where he was exposed to Richard Wagners operas at an early age. Alongside his interest in music, painting and sculpture shaped his childhood and youth. He has made his mark as a composer with orchestral works, ensemble pieces, film music and operas. He currently lives and works in Munich.
