On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Lee Perry doing production with his house bands first album released in 1973 on Upsetter Records - Nice album to cook and chill too on this fine Summers evening
(2010)
The Black Angels - Phosphene Dream
Another great album from the Black Angels. Shades of the Doors and Velvet Underground etc. well worth a listen if psychedelic is your bag.
Kraftwerk 3D The Catalogue
Got it from Highresaudio 24/44.1 - the cheapest I found but they also have a 15% discount at the moment (thanks to Jeroen20 for the heads up) so with this as well so I got it for £45.
Well worth it. Sounds great - super crisp sound. Well suited to the agile reproduction from Naim gear. Also great on earphones.
Meatloaf
Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell - CD Rip
Edward
Procul Harum, Exotic Birds and Fruit, 2015 vinyl double album
Prog rock with the emphasis on rock, big orchestral sound, fantastic drive, great songs, storming vocals, pressed as a double album with a bonus track.
On vinyl
1969 - Vinyl - UK first pressing...
I’ve just now concluded that this is the Carlsberg of recording standards...probably the best recording in the world.
Aural & musical bliss.

Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell - late ‘70s vinyl
Inspired by Edward. Unironic unselfconscious bombastic pomp rock, utterly brilliant from start to finish.
Really interesting collaboration between Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly, both classically trained musicians but also hovering around the indie rock scene, Thomas Bartlett also involved with the Gloaming. Interesting album and highly recommended, streaming on Tidal and sounds excellent! Check it out.

Agreed, fabulous, particularly Glory Box, I use it to see if my system is sounding right!
First a couple of programmes on R4; One about Corbyn's Labour, the other about the desirability, or otherwise, of regulating tech giants.
Now, The Doors - Waiting For The Sun
Perfect for a warm evening, on vinyl.
George Benson and Earl Klugh - Collaboration, its a bit slick at times but still excellent musicianship aii the same. The SQ is fab on
this Japanese release
1986 - vinyl - UK pressing...

Karen Lovely - Still The Rain
Streaming on TIDAL....... Looking for a little blues/swing this Monday afternoon and Karen is delivering, a lovely voice and a very nice band backing....... Quite enjoyable!
Still on the Amazon player and listening to this superb album from 2007, whilst falling all over the place after a great drinking session.
2016 - Vinyl...
Laura Gibson - Empire Builder
Just come in from an evening around a low slow braai together with (& followed by) a few (too many) sundowners until it was too dark to see the bats. Music was provided (at respectable neighbour friendly background levels) via open patio doors. Top rated & especially so as to fit the occasion, with the low slow jerk chicken bits on the braai, was from the lion god Bob Marley:
Top rated of them all was 'Natural Mystic' (16.44 WAV Qobuz). This is a compilation put out in 1997 as a follow up to 'Legend', its a move to the more reggae roots side of his work, with a few salvation songs, & where would we be without 'Easy Skanking' to contemplate life from a 'spiritual' aspect. The deep mellow thrum of the reggae bass flowing out into the night was a little bit special.
Might need to do that again ........... easy skanking

Streaming on NAS........ Time to enjoy some of Randy's beautiful vocals with a fantastic group of backing musicians! Outstanding album......
Now Playing.......
Shelby Lynn - Just A Little Lovin (inspired by Dusty Springfield)
Streaming on NAS....... Love the opening track, it just drags you right in, makes you sit up and pay attention, the music, the voice..... a fantastic album! Worth a listen if you haven't already.....
Now Playing......
Ferenc Snétberger - Titok
Ferenc Snétberger (guitar), Anders Jormin (double bass), and Joey Baron (drums).
Streaming on NAS........ Going to prep a little dinner while listening to this wonderful trio. A April 2017 release and made the purchase after listening to the album on TIDAL, well worth your time to give it a listen.....
