On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
And after all that Raucousness the heart achingly beautiful
Chet Baker with Doug Raney & Niels-Henning Orsted Pederson - The Touch of your Lips -
Steeple Chase Records Original 1st Press vinyl.
Chet's vocal and trumpet playing on the title track is so beautiful and sonically this is one of the better records in my collection listening to it was the first time I really closed my eyes and was transported into the studio.
Paul Weller
Wild Wood [Deluxe Edition] (2007 Remaster) - CD Rip
Saw the above posts and just had to play this album, agree with comments, stunning album that gets played a lot.
Edward
Coldplay - Parachutes
Wine bar chic
Sorry to post this again so soon, but although I've owned this for years, it's just really working for me right now. I've always enjoyed it, but it's just making perfect sense.
2003 - Vinyl - US pressing...
Prompted by Tony playing the debut LP I picked a Santana album at random and pulled out Borboletta .It was too jazzy for me originally, but I have grown to appreciate it more.Playing the cd but the LP cover really is a thing of beauty.
Original vinyl. I have not played this in 35 years, it has aged well in my opinion. Quite good sound/production too.
The Clash - London Calling (1979)
Antimatter, Planetary Confinement.
I started this post on the 3rd track, the album has just finished. I guess it really caught my attention.
Schumann & Mendelssohn: In Between - Sophie Pacini (piano)
At 26 years old, Sophie Pacini seems to have the best of both worlds - youthful energy and wisdom beyond her years.
What I really like is her rhythmic drive. Really evident across the board but for me Mendelssohn's Variations serieuses are really a highlight. The Schumann Fantasiestuecke, Op. 12 and Toccata in C, Op. 7 are quite impressive as well.
I am really enjoying this album very much but this is not surprising as this repertoire is pretty core to my interests. Only the Clara Schumann and Fanny Hensel are no so familiar but equally compelling.

Now Playing..........
Tomasz Stanko New York Quartet - December Avenue
Tomasz Stanko (trumpet), David Virelles (piano), Reuben Rogers (double bass), and Gerald Cleaver (drums).
Streaming on NAS........ Cloud cover rolling in on this Tuesday late afternoon and reminded me of the cover of this album. Plus there is never a bad time to hear Tomasz play his trumpet along with his new quartet. Sounding sweet!
Jorge Bolet (piano): RIAS Vol. 1 Berlin, 1962 - 1973
Born in 1914 in Havana, Jorge Bolet started playing piano at a very early age but remarkably was first recognized in the 60's and especially from the early 70's onward. Unheard of today where you are almost considered done if you haven't won major competitions or have a recording contract by the time you are 22. His first major recording contract came in 1978 at the age of 64 where he stayed until his death in 1990. Bolet's repertoire was mainly Romantic period it seems but this should not be thought of in any bad often stereotypical way like the thought of arms flailing around in the air and body gyrating in every direction. Bolet sat very still and composed and commenced playing in a very prepared, solid way. He likened it to giving a speech where everything is worked out relatively precisely in what he wanted to say.
Now Playing.......
Rickie Lee Jones - the other side of DESIRE
Streaming on NAS........ Arrived in the afternoon mail, ripped to NAS and Rickie is sounding mighty sweet!
Paulin Bündgen / Clematis - Vater unser: German Sacred Cantatas
A nice overview of cantatas from lesser know German composers. Most from the period 1600 - 1700.
Sharp Shades and Finger Snaps - Blue Note hard bop comp. Cd 1 wouldn't wouldn't rip to my Unitiserve - an unusual occurrence - so I had to use XLD and put it in the Download folder.
A good dose of Southern Rock by The Kings of Leon - Just love the album name - Aha Shake Heartbreak - Playing on Compact Disc on RCA Records 2004
Some of the trax of her up and coming album due 31st Aug. This I believe is not the album cover but the album is called Anthem.
Jack White, Lazaretto. 'Ultra' vinyl LP edition. Because I saw him on Tuesday night and he was brilliant. And because I like records that play from the inside, out.
2018 - Tidal...
The Orb - No Sound Is Out Of Bounds
The Nonesuch Collection, "15 exclusive tracks from the pioneering American label"

All good apart from one duffer, imo, by Joni Mitchell.
More vinyl from Mr White, in the shape of his first solo outing Blunderbuss.
