The Beatles - Revolver

(1966)

A fine year for music and English International and domestic football. This one from the 1982 MFSL half speed remastered Vinyl box set "Beatles Collection". Jolly good

Antimatter, Planetary Confinement.

I started this post on the 3rd track, the album has just finished. I guess it really caught my attention.

This is very good stuff, fits right in after Joe Jackson (well maybe)

Really liked Planetary Confinement by Antimatter so giving their first album a go. Sounds very good. Ambient trip hop? Shades of Massive Attack..

Streaming on Tidal, Pretenders Isle of View, acoustic versions of some of there well known songs recorded live, excellent recording, If their version of Grace Jones’s Private Life doesn’t sound good on your system then there’s something wrong!

Delerium - Poem (2000) ambient trip hop electronica. Similar in some ways to Antimatter.

Glad you liked them dknk, also worth checking out are the Judas Table, Fear Of A Unique Identity and Alternative Matter ( a re-mix album, The first track will test the dynamics of your system). Lights Out is ok, for me it has some good tracks and some long filler tracks. All on Tidal and I have just noticed I don't have Leaving Eden in my collection, I'll put that right soon.

Yet another one for me to check out, thanks Simon.

I won’t be buying it, Steve. The last album I enjoyed by them was U.F Orb and that was back  in the early nineties. No much have changed or developed musically since in my opinion. I have seen you playing  their stuff every now and then so do have a listen yourself but I’m afraid this one is not for me. Cheers.

Thanks Tony, I'll give it a miss as I've way too much new material to try out. Cheers.

‘Explore’ on BBC R3. There was a bloke playing ‘nano-anthems’ just now. Made Young Marble Giants look like the Berlin Philhamonic under Sir Simon Rattle.

Kenny Werner - Meditations

This is really very nice solo jazz piano music when you want to listen to some relaxing music.

The second of the solo piano CDs recorded by Kenny Werner for Steeplechase, this release shows off Werner's considerable talent as a composer as well as showcasing his incredible technique. His three "Meditations" are very lyrical, soft ballads, while "Melodee No. 2" (dedicated to Mel Lewis) is both haunting and playful. Werner's is at his most adventurous as he reharmonizes both "Giant Steps" and "Stella by Starlight" to where they are barely recognizable. This is one of Kenny Werner's most memorable CDs. Highly recommended.
