Another album I haven’t played in years

I just bought a copy after being steered to it by someone’s post here - I don’t recall who it was now, but a big thank you from me. Extraordinarily superb album.

Rain pounding down, log burner firing up, this playing now. Sonata #2.

Could be a lazy Sunday

  Field Music - Open Here.

Soon to be released new album from the Brewis brothers.

Field Music remain one of the UK's quirkiest, yet hugely innovative bands.

They write great, catchy, choons, and if you ever have the chance to go and see them, they're stunningly good live.

Arve Henriksen - Cartography

The right vibe for this cold, grey, wet morning.

Amaury Faye Trio - Clearway.

Checking out this new piano trio. Sounds good so far. You can hear some a bit of Brad Mehldau, which is imo a good thing.

Amaury Faye - Piano

Louis Navarro - bass

Theo Lanau - Drums

Can it really be 20 years old? Still sounds fresh and mind expanding. A recent purchase as it was heavily discounted to replace my original copy.

Ok slightly dark and bleak lyrics, but I really enjoy PJ Harvey... and somehow feels right for a cold, damp and sleety January Sunday.

I enjoyed opening The Doors yesterday, let's open them some more. On early 1980s UK (well, German) vinyl:

I've done all i need to do outside on another cold, wet day so it's time for some tunes.

Starting with this...

Beck - Morning Phase

Again nicely dominated by his present voice..

Dojo - Gaia on Cd On the Tivoli system whilst building more foamboard structures.

Why? It' been sat on the unplayed pile for ages. Pleasant light reggae.

Genesis - Live over Europe.

Always nice to listen to Genesis. The instrumental parts of 'In the cage including excerpts of cinema show and dukes travels'  are brilliant imo.

What a gem... as a child I remember being fascinated by Kraftwerk in the mid 70s, and this album to me with its early analogue synths, vocoders and electronic rhythms is wonderful. I also find it’s evocative of the time as a child I used to tune across the MW at night listening to magical and ‘forbidden’ foreign stations from across the other side of the iron curtain, especially Germanic and spy number stations (lists of seemingly random numbers being read out from some distant station fading in and out)  as well as other strange distant sounds. Even the cover is of a German consumer Radio from the Nazi era adding to the mystic.  A truly inspiring album that helped breed a whole culture of electronica.

John Martin Hidden Notes - Spirit Of Adventure. CD Tivoli still

Why? Another one on the pile. Liking it  lot. Some excellent contemporary jazz sounds.
