On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Another favourite for me. I've owned this since the mid '90s and when I first got it I recall it was played at least once a day for many weeks. Recorded in May 1957, it 's a great display of Monk's minimalist approach.
Antimatter - Leaving Eden (2007). I'm going through their catalog on Tidal, layered guitar. Works for me.
Columbia Mastersound gold CD. Wow!

I love layered guitar...
2018 - Vinyl... Gorillaz - The Now Now .
It’s not everyday that you hear George Benson and Snoop Dogg on the same bill.
Tom Beek quintet - Conversations
Inspired by Bert's post. Indeed nice modern jazz music with some rock influences.
Tom Beek (tenor sax), Karel Boehlee (piano / fender rhodes / synthesizers), Martijn van Iterson (guitar), Jeroen Vierdag (bass), Marcel Serierse (drums).
Misha Mengelberg / Piet Noordijk quartet - Journey
Dutch jazz from 1966.
Piet Noordijk alt sax; Misha Mengelberg piano; Rob Langereis bass ; Han Bennink drums. Guest: Ted Curson trumpet
Ten Hundred Devils: Keyboard Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti - Katia Braunschweiler (piano)
Speaking of evil... none to be found here. Just glorious music that transcends the generations.

Manchester Orchestra The Black Miles Demos
Streaming on TIDAL....... A six track (20:40) album with "a collection of the original demos from “A Black Mile To The Surface” in their most raw, earliest form." (from their web page)
Had an interesting jazz journey today while reading a jazz magazine with reviews of new albums and a preview of the North Sea jazz festival, I used it to plan my program for the festival. The first one was recommended, however for me a bit too much tricks in the album...
A very modern sound with the trumpet soloing on top. Some moments are really good...
Harold Lopez Nussa - Un dia cualquiera
I just recently discovered this great pianist from Cuba. If you like latin piano jazz (think Michel Camilo) you probably like this one as well. This is his latest album. It's in the trio format (piano, bass and drum).
Alex Mercado is a great player, hope to have the opportunity to see him play at the festival...
Modern and attractive sound...
A very powerful trio, sometimes it feels like a restrained Hendrix...
Very refined big band playing. Will definitely buy some music from them....
Nice rounded Latin Jazz, hope to be able to see them at the festival...
Very refined playing. Had never heard her playing before. If possible I will listen to her at the festival....
A highlight these old guys still nail it, Han Bennink one of the better drummers in jazz, even at his age...
Modern recommended by the magazine, not my thing....
Now Playing.......
Cowboy Junkies - The Trinity Session
Streaming on NAS....... Arrived in the mail yesterday, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin and they are sounding mighty sweet!
Also quite modern, but also not my thing...
