Ludwig van Beethoven: Complete Piano Trios vol. 1:
Van Baerle Trio (Hannes Minnaar (piano), Maria Milstein (violin), Gideon den Herder (violoncello) Piano
One of my heroes. Beethoven was an outspoken republican amidst a continent of kings. He was all about the struggle for freedom; artistic freedom, political freedom, personal freedom of will, of art, of faith, freedom of the individual in all aspects of life.
This is an exemplary recording in all aspects including technical skill, interpretation and in recording quality. The piano here is a straight strung Chris Maene Concert Grand and the tone and balance is second to none. This is still early Beethoven so we'll see if Minnaar carries this piano through the series and how it fairs with say the Archduke? I am extremely pleased though with this recording and of course I love these players anyway.
Now Playing.......
John Abercrombie - Open Land
John Abercrombie (guitar), Mark Feldman (violin), Kenny Wheeler (trumpet, flugelhorn), Joe Lovano (tenor saxophone), Dan Wall (organ), Adam Nussbaum (drums).
Streaming on NAS......... Arrived in the mail, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin and it is sounding mighty fine!
Kate Bush - Aerial (2005). A very pleasant album. Have not played it in a long time. CD rip.

Personally I think it is his best album. Raw and rocking. I have 2 copies of the cd.
Hi Ewemon,
Yes Jimmys great I really love The feel the blues album. Brilliant blues and just so unknown.A fine illustration of raw talent that is off most people's radar. It gave me quite a buzz discovering Jimmy Dawkins and I suppose that's what our love of music is about ....not Some ridiculously priced interconnect cable but hearing new music that touches your soul.

Nice choice Dan......as you say two crackers.Love all the IRS Records REM they had such a unique sound and with Micheal Stipes abstract lyrics and Peter Bucks chimming Rickenbacker sound it made for superb tracks. And the beauty of REM you have to play the songs a good many times as there not always instant but when you do get them there's nothing better.A sign of all great music.
Warren Zevon was fabulous it's a shame he passed away earliy

I’ve seen some great R.E.M. gigs in Liverpool in their early days small crowds from their Chronic Town era to packed out audiences on the Green tour. This is when Stipe wore the famous white boiler suit. After that they went mega and it was Arena gigs which I hate. The Reckoning tour was brilliant and Rockville was always their signature tune.
Staring the day with this live rendition of Astral Weeks (2009). CD rip.
