On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
On CD:-
David Bowie - Welcome To The Blackout (Live London '78)
Me Myself I (1980). Joan fits in nicely after Rickie Lee Jones. On original vinyl, after this it's out on the bicycle and the heat of this day.
Sade - Diamond Life, excellent debut with sonics to match
Phil Collins
But Seriously (2016 Remaster) - CD Rip
Edward
Playing on Cassette on Maxell UD Xl11 C60 - Always loved this Floyd album.....one day I must watch the film
Now Playing.........
Van Morrison - What's Wrong With This Picture
Streaming on NAS......... Picked this up yesterday, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. Van's Blue Note Records debut and from the opening track it sounds like it is going to be a fantastic journey! Van is sounding fantastic.......
Earlier...
Released 1996 - Great album, check it out.
Now...
Released 1994 - Fine album from one of America’s finest. ????
Now Playing...........
Bill Frisell - The Sweetest Punch -- The New Songs of Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach
Bill Frisell (guitar), Brian Blades (drums, percussion), Don Byron (clarinet, bass clarinet), Ron Miles (trumpet), Billy Drewes (alto saxophone), Curtis Fowlkes (trombone), Victor Krauss (bass), Elvis Costello (vocals), and Cassandra Wilson (vocals).
Picked this up yesterday, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. Going through a pile of used CD's on a table at Fat Cat Records in Seattle and came across this album and Bill's guitar is sounding mighty sweet along with the rest of the band! Elvis is sounding mighty fine on the second track 'Toledo' and looking forward to listening to Cassandra later on the album!
The sun must be getting to me.....................
not one I keep in the front of my LP collection to show how erudite Sloop's taste is however it's another great summer memory for me, blasting around the house accompanied by my none too pristine rendition.

On 16/44 WAV files, through the Oppo. Sounding very nice...
Now Playing................
Rihanna- Good Girl Gone Bad
Streaming on NAS.......... Picked this up yesterday, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. Something different for me........
Josef Suk isn't known for his solo piano works, but the four collections of short pieces on this disc include several unexpectedly memorable gems (sample track 6 to get the idea). They are given the luxury treatment by Jonathan Plowright who here maintains his track record of never having released a less than excellent album. Highly recommended.
Cheers

Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint
The River in Reverse - Tidal HiFi
Saw the post above from seakayaker, Half way through and enjoying what I am hearing.
Edward
One more before the rest of the family arrives home. Hamelin cementing his way to the top, early 2000s, when he made a name for himself playing unplayable music from the forgotten corners of the piano literature. I've long felt he's at his best doing this sort of thing, but must say very impressed with his recent more mainstream work - he's still getting better.
Cheers

Alive She Cried, on vinyl. Very good live recording. Chilling with The Doors on this very hot day.
(1978)
The Doobie Brothers Minute By Minute
Because I'm a sucker for Michael McDonald's blue-eyed soul voice and I loved it when he eventually joined the Doobie's...

Sketch, Night and Day. A one time freebie with Living etc magazine.
Inspired by the eponymous Sketch, "London's coolest restaurant and bar" it says here. Not sure that my spaghetti alla carbonara will quite cut it.... Anyway, good to cook to.

Mr SK,
I borrowed and ripped 2 of my daughters Rihanna albums.
I am always impressed with the quality of the recordings, they sound fantastic.
Enjoy!
Steve Tilston - Distant Days, WAV CD rip
Veteran English folk singer/songwriter/guitarist, revisiting some of his most popular songs, from his near 50 years in the game. Stripped down arrangements, Steve and his acoustic guitar, lovely songs, sensitively sung by a guy who can really interpret a lyric, and really knows how to get emotion from a guitar. Here’s to Tom Paine is a rousing anthem for the 4th of July.
Album released at the end of the month, I picked this up pre-release at the merch table at a gig at the weekend.
Joan Armatrading - "Joan Armatrading" (1976) prompted by some recent postings, been too long since I listened to Joan's music. Thanks.
