What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
1975 - vinyl - UK first pressing....
Original vinyl
Why? Fits my mood.

Shelley Manne & Bill Evans with Monty Budwig - Empathy - Original 1st UK press vinyl on Verve
Inspired by Haim's playing Undercurrent by Bill Evans & Jim Hall I found this absolute gem picked in Mint condition up on eBay last year for just a few pounds and unplayed until now.
Some first class drumming on here by Shelley Manne loud and hard sounding pretty good through the Olive 102/180.
Space Oddity (1969). Vinyl, I'm pleased with the recording quality. It's been a very long time since this was put on the platter.
Now Playing.......
Charlie Haden - Silence
Charlie Haden (bass), Billy Higgins (drums), Enrico Pieranunzi (piano), and Chet Baker (trumpet, vocals).
Streaming on NAS........ In the mood for some music from Charlie Haden and this fine quartet! Silence on the afternoon of the fourth of July....... soon to be broken......

my favorite album from "It's A Beautiful Day!" This one saw a lot of play in it's day......
All these albums which I played today remind me of my brother who gave me my love for music an introduced me to all genres of music literally from the moment I was born.
For that I will always be thankful.
Haven't played this in decades! Seems rather straightforward after all the Trane I've been listening to lately.
Kenny Werner - At Maybeck recital hall
Kenny Werner certainly has his own style in playing the standard jazz songs. That makes this a very enjoyable solo jazz piano recording.

Fantasic LP I love Chet's playing on this on other three gentleman arent to bad either.
On UK CD. An absolute stone cold classic:
(1989)
Don Henley - Don Henley
Some very fine Henley to keep this hot evening rocking along.
Ray Parker Jr. - "Woman Out Of Control" (1983) staying with the 80's for another selection
Miles Davis - Ascenseur pour l'échafaud -
I'm going through the six sides of this triple 10" vinyl edition sides one and two the original score are of course excellent but there are some fantasic extras and takes from the entire recording session on sides 3,4,5 & 6.
Side four is especially good Pierre Michelot's double bass and Kenny Clarke's drums are excellent on
Assassinat take 1 (Visit du vigile) , Assassinat take 2 (Julien dans l'ascenseur), Assassinat take 3 (L'Assassinat de Carala).
The whole package is highly recommended and the Abbey Rd remaster is very well done.

There are indeed some fine songs on this album, Steve. That opening song is rather raunchy too.

I was going to join Stevee with Don Henley, but I haven't played this Donald Fagen album for years, so I'll join you in spinning this one.
Little Feat - Sailin' Shoes, this their second album is a good example of the bands early sound, with some excellent tunes.
Prince - "Controversy" (1981) keepin' on
