Tori Amos - Boys for Pele (1996)
My introduction to Tori Amos more than 21 years after this album became a US and U.K. hit. Reminds me of Madonna with more excitement.
Wikipedia says....Boys for Pele was recorded in rural Ireland and Louisiana and features 18 songs that incorporate harpsichord, clavichord, harmonium, gospel choirs, brass bands and full orchestras. Amos wrote all of the tracks, and for the first time, she served as sole producer for her own album. For Amos, the album was a step into a different direction, in terms of singing, songwriting, and recording, and is experimental in comparison to her previous work.

Hi Phil. Boys for Pele was my first Tori album too. It took me many years before I really became a fan and got more of her albums.
Mike
Hi Mike
I’ve seen lots of posts for her albums - I felt I had to try. The great thing about Naim is that it allows you to hear the music. It’s very enjoyable and I will look out for more. Do I need look for earlier or later Albums.
Phil
I've seen a lot od recommendations for Lucinda, purchased a coupleof CDs for next to nothing most impressed indeed bloody superb.

Phil, I would quite happily recommend that you give her first a try:
I picked up on this & Tori when it first came out and also saw her first (I think) UK performance on the back of this. This might help put some of her later albums into some sort of context. Still a powerful album in my view. See if you like this in comparison.
Now Playing......
Tori Amos - Under The Pink
Streaming on NAS....... Continuing on with another Tori album......
Had a nice morning with the ladies!
Sandy Denny - Like An Old Fashioned Waltz
Silje Nergaard - Port Of Call
Jane Monheit - The Lovers The Dreamers & Me
(1995)
Tunde's great voice made this band what it was, such a shame their cool, sexy, laid back, melodic sounds only lasted for a few albums. This was their debut.
Cara Dillon - Wanderer
This is just gorgeous. Evocative folk with a Celtic influence, beautifully sung by Ms Dillon. Although it is wrong to single out one particular track, listen to 'The Leaving Song'. Gets me every time.
Some tracks are simply Cara and an acoustic guitar or piano. Less is definitely more with this gal. Wonderful!
Thanks to the other Maybeck postings for the inspiration.
(1994)
Another great voice from the 90's, I would have loved to hear him cover much of Lighthouse Family's early material and visa versa...
Now Playing....
Tori Amos - Boys For Pele
Streaming on NAS....... One more Tori...... She is sounding mighty fine!
Robert Palmer - Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley.
Robert's debut album, and with various members of Little Feat and The Meters providing backing, it's a winner.
A class act, sadly missed.
I’ve seen this recommended a few times and meant to get it when it was first released. What a fine album it is. I bought if from Bandcamp, where it’s much cheaper than Qobuz.
Sonny Boy Williamson - Down And Out Blues.
Not just Rice Miller's finest album, simply one of the all time great blues albums, anywhere............. 'nuff said.
(2011)
Some late Ozrics by way of a change and a sort of aural palate cleansing.
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes - TIDAL via iPad and nDAC
It really is amazing good SQ this route. Try it both ways if you have a streamer.
Thanks to Paul160 for the recommendation.

Hi Phil
A bit late replying to your question but iIsee PaulM160 and Seakayaker have already rightly steered you towards Little Earthquakes. IMV that's Tori's best album. Next would be Strange Little Girls and Unrepentant Geraldines.
That said the real expert on Tori Amos albums on here is Dayjay, or rather his missus who is a very big Tori fan. I was grateful for Dayjay's advice on this previously and my Tori collection expanded considerably as a result.
Mike
A truly lovely album from Ms Krall. I've yet to tire of it.

She hade made one or two like that.
Radio 2 various artists - The Piano Room
Double CD at a silly supermarket price. All very R2 (obvs.) but not too shabby to cook to. Macca (yeah, like I know him) currently, doing Lady Madonna. Decent.
Now Playing......
Lucinda Williams - This Sweet Old World
Streaming on TIDAL......... A mention of Lucinda from PCD above has me reaching for one my favorite albums of 2017. Instead of re-releasing Sweet Old World on its 25th anniversary, Lucinda re-recorded the album with a new presentation of the songs, simply fantastic!
