On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks.
I've started filling in the gaps in my Van collection, especially as the CD's are widely available for just pennies each.
First arrival this morning, now ripped and streaming on my "sounds broken already" NDS .......... luvverly jubberly.
Kevin-W posted:Possibly my favourite Jarrett. On CD:
I don’t have many KJ albums, but I do have this one, which is my favourite too. I particularly like ‘Blame it on My Youth’, which I first heard on Helen Mayhew’s Dinner Jazz programme on Jazz FM in the mid ‘90s. Whilst he seems quite silent on that track, he does squeak on some of the others. It is his wretched squeaking that really puts me off further exploration of his albums. Maybe his albums should each be given a squeak rating to help potential buyers.
Bach cello suite being played at the East Neuk Festival, on R3.
Each of the suites is being played in a different village around Fife, apparently.
Fabulous Mazzy Star album from 1993 - I saw them on that tour in London and Hope Sandoval only spoke once to say "Thankyou London goodnight" after the final encore.....she looked like an angel and sang like one.But so shy on and off stage - Playing on Compact Disc on Capitol Records

If you like that one, but haven't heard this one, I'm sure you'll enjoy it too!
Five Live Yardbirds ............... recorded in 1964, at the Marquee, when the British Blues explosion was just getting underway, not exactly
the greatest SQ, but it does capture the club atmosphere very well ................... best of all, surprise, surprise, ................it's on Tidal!
Cheers Dave,
Just listening to it now off Youtube no streaming going on here...I am in the dark ages with streaming !
Sounds just as you said but could imagine the atmosphere of The Marquee.Probably seen 10 bands over the years.Loved its intimate feel and the heat. With the Blues program now gone with Paul Jones on a Monday night you have given me a perfect Blues tonic...after Sonny Boy and The Yardbirds at work what better than getting home and getting a nice pointer to more.A great Blues album which I love at the moment is Feel The Blues - By Jimmy Dawkins...get that off Tidal" And give "So Good to me" a play....Brilliant track.
Wishing you a fine musical night
Tidalising your recommended Jimmy Dawkins "Feel The Blues" album right now ....................... marvellous stuff, and a great shout.
Thanks for that, and to all the folks who've introduced me to previously unheard music on this most wunnerful thread.
Glad you liked The Jimmy Dawkins Dave
And like wise Thanks to everyone for the musical inspiration in the Music Room....that's it here .....Music ....although I do have a passion for audio equipment
Status Quo - Hello!, early Quo ,I've put a waistcoat on in honour of the band and Sir Gareth
The stylus fantasticus (or stylus phantasticus) is a style of early baroque music. The root of this music is organ toccatas and fantasias, particularly derived from those of Claudio Merulo (1533–1604), organist at St Mark's basilica in Venice.
Now Playing...................
Larry Young - Unity
Larry Young (organ), Woody Shaw (trumpet), Joe Henderson (tenor saxophone), and Elvin Jones (drums).
Streaming on NAS......... Recent purchase and taking the album out for a spin for the first time.
ZZ Top - Recycler.
Just some good old Texas boogie, with a cold one, on this sunny, North Yorks., pre-footy afternoon.
Free - Fire and Water, this music is still fresh and relevant, and the bass drum on the album version of "All Right Now" is so powerful.

Sonny Landreth - From the Reach, a solid album featuring other guitar worthies Clapton,Knopfler and Vince Gill on selected tracks.
On Vinyl
More from the Dead, this time in ther shape of their most famous studio record, on another 2001 HDCD.
I have to admit that I prefer my Dead more out there, trippier, jazzier, more psychedelic than this incarnation, which is rootsier, more mellow, with a tad too much folk/country for my taste.
Still, there are some great tunes, the recording is fantastic and a lot of the live bonus tracks are pretty good.
