On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Lunatic Soul - Walking On a Flashlight Beam
Mariusz Duda (Riverside's frontman and bassist) was in extremely fine form when he penned this prog rock album, it's still my favourite of his solo work.

I assume that's a Rudy Van Gelder recording. That man could do no wrong in recording techniques. Today's studios and recording technicians could learn a lot.
Not only could this guy play a mean guitar (especially when he deployed an echoplex), he could sing a bit too! A splendid collection of BBC recordings on CD:

Wayne Shorter - Speak No Evil
Wayne Shorter (tenor saxophone), Freddie Hubbard (trumpet), Herbie Hancock (piano), Ron Carter (bass), and Elvin Jones (drums).
Streaming on NAS......... recent purchase, ripped to NAS, and now taking out for a spin, it's Friday and have this turned up a bit, Wayne has the toes tapping and body moving on this Friday morning! The opening track is 'Witch Hunt' and Wayne is sounding mighty sweet!
Spectacularly good album, SK.

Sorry to post this again so soon, but I've just reconfirmed what an absolutely marvellous album this is. I might just have to buy the box set now. Reason for my reaffirmation is that I'm listening to it through a NAP500DR I have on loan currently to see if I need the DR upgrade or not.
Stupid question!
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
A work colleague who is very much younger than myself happened to mention his favourite band at the moment is Dire Straits. Another colleague (same age as myself) found this rather strange mostly due to the age gap.
Who would have thought that Dire Straits would appeal to the younger generation. I guess quality always wins at the end of the day.
On clear vinyl
Why? It arrived in the post today.

Anywhere But Home
(2004)
Fine heavy symphonic goth rock from Evanescence playing live in Paris, it's basically the Fallen album being toured which was no bad thing.

Golly! That name brings back some memories. Slough College 1973. I can still picture the roller-skating guitarist in his stripey outfit...
On home-recorded cassette I have their Round One album.

The Astmoto Running Band is great as well. Here's the title track

"Gimme Little Sign" (Alfred Smith/Joe Hooven/Hal Winn)
Maggie Reilly: Vocals, backing vocals

Playing on Vinyl on Red Rose Records 1984 - Garage Psychedelia from Rhode Island Band Plan 9
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours, playing the bonus second disc from 2004 that features rough mixes and outakes
Another wonderful guitar player who can't sing (Vini Reilly). His first album, The Reurn of The Durutti Column, was released on New Year's Eve 1979 and contains a dozen or so limpid guitar instrumentals, produced by the great Martin Hannett.None of Vin's godawful 'singing' to be heard anywhere, thank god.
This is the 1996 CD reissue on Factory Once:

Phosphene Dream
Why? Because I'm in the mood for some fine heavy psychedelic rock that nods back to that late 60's and early 70's, the Black Angel boys are filling that roll nicely.
Kevin-W posted:Another great guitarist who happened to be a rotten singer. Thankfully this CD is all-instrumental:
Glorious album. While on the topic of great guitar players, try a bit of Gordon Giltrap, so many fine albums , A Matter of Time is a really fine choice with GG & Martin Taylor . GG is a big fan of the late Bert Jansch which can be heard on his album Janschology.

I've been checking out some favourite albums just to see what the DR mod can do to the NAP500. This is one of my favourite desert island albums. Oh DR, oh DR, oh DR! The space between the notes. The speed of this amp is something else (that's another album to play!). This is the best I've ever heard this album.
On Tidal...
Haven't played an album with a palindromic title for ages. So here's the only one I possess, Aoxamoxoa on CD:
Good evening! Or good morning if you like.
Yay! Two Rick Griffins in a row.
Edit: well it was until Nancy put the boot in ????
