On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

The Dandelion - The Strange Case Of The Dandelion
Very enjoyable contemporary 'soft' psychedelic rock that captures wonderfully well the feel of those late 60's Bay area sounds in the flower power days. A fine Aussie band who are worth keeping an ear on if you are into the genre.
Yet another SACD. Blimey is all I can say about this one. An absolutely stunning recording. Music/concept ain't bad either...

Even in bog standard red book CD this was a very well recorded great sounding album, I can only imagine what the SACD might bring to the table.

Free Spirit - Paul Rodgers
This is a fine live album recorded at the Albert Hall paying homage to Free with Paul Rodgers in fine voice extremely well aided and abetted by Deborah Bonham's band. The CD is totally and utterly recommended I've yet to watch the accompanying DVD...
First play of the latest addition to my Cara Dillon collection.
After enjoying Cara Dillon I fancied upping the tempo. What a great opening this album has: the sound of foot steps; the opening the car door; the bass guitar kicks in; then the car engine starts. Instantly recognisable to all Roxy fans.
Mark-Almond Group Night Music, (no, not Marc Almond!) never heard of this duo until I heard the track ‘City’ today on RP which unfortunately is not available on Tidal. Former members of John Mayalls Blues Breakers, according to Tidal this was released in 96 but I suspect it was before that as I think they broke up in the 70’s but it does sound a bit too polished for that era so maybe 96 is correct. Incredible production and recording and sounds sublime even on Tidal. Highly recommended for a summer evening chill out album, check it out.
(1970 | 2014 SACD)
Free - Fire And Water
Because I just had to follow up with some original Free, sounding great from this SACD rip.

Mercky, they made a great album (called Mark-Almond) in 1971, which was released on Blue Thumb in the US and Harvest in the UK. Originals are very collectable, but it has been re-released on CD. The track you mentioned, "The City", is from that album.

Did you actual transfer (rip) the SACD layer or just ripped the CD layer?

Just the CD layer, Drikus.

Nickelback - Silver Side Up
Some fine old Canadian grunge.

Ah ok thought so. 24/88.2 seemed a bit odd for a SACD transfer, it's 24/176.4 normally if you convert DSD to PCM. It's your money off course but why not buy the SHM-CD instead for half the price of the SHM-SACD if your just ripping them?
To go with the muggy afternoon, sounding more liquid than usual:

I have three albums of theirs on vinyl, To the Heart 1976, Other Peoples Rooms 1978 and Tuesday in New York 1980. All brilliant. To the Heart includes an amazing cover of Billy Joel's New York State of Mind. I have trawled record shop's, fairs and the web for others and issues on CD but with no success. The 1971 album is indeed colectable, saw it at a record fair at a silly price. Really worth tracking down any of their work. As said...v good to chill out to on a summer's evening.

PS .. The City is on Other Peoples Rooms , a sublime studio performance, rather more laid back than the San Francisco Live version.
Boz Scaggs - Memphis.
The Blue Nile - High
It's getting towards the last of the day.
CD. Richard Strauss - Also Sprach Zarathustra - Gustavo Dudamel - Berliner Philharmoniker
Also includes Till Eulenspiegels Lustige Streiche, and Don Juan.
Mark Lanegan and Duke Garwood entitlted With Animals.
The new Anna Calvi due out end of Aug I believe . 5 trax off the album.
The new Passenger album due out late Aug.
