Hybrid - Disappear Here

Why? Because its one of my favourite albums from Hybrid, broody, moody and punchy layers of electric guitars and synths and sweeping strings accompanied in places by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, it's all good to go.

Having enjoyed one early Beatles album yesterday evening (A Hard Day's Night) I thought I try another this evening.

A classic Dead show from '72, on CD.

Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl.

Apparently, something of a "mash up" recorded for Bang Records by Van soon after his departure from Them.

It contains examples of already recorded songs, and though these can't be said to be the definitive versions, it's pushing my buttons

as I delve further into Van's exhaustive catalogue ............. again, pennies on The River.

Fancying a big contrast to early Beatles I plumped for the debut album by Garbage. When it first came out I think I quite surprised myself when I took to it instantly. I've since bought every one of their albums.

my favourite band and their newest release, been a fan since their first album and thought it was a bit niche until i saw this album (favourably) reviewed in the Sunday Times.......

And another change of direction this evening. I haven't played this classic 10cc album for a while but I seem to have had it and enjoyed it for ever.

Is there a better feel good song than Feelin’ Groovy?

David Bowie - Diamond Dogs. Vinyl, early Japanese pressing.

This album is one of my ‘fav Dave’ albums and sounds superb on this Japanese copy - “Sweet Thing” now sounding sublime on this ancient slab of vinyl! I’ve got five variations of this album on vinyl and think this is the best.

The very fine Mr. Bentley Caldwell.

Probably my favourite album from the Pat Metheny Group - Offramp. Playing the vinyl copy to see how it sounds with the DR version of the power amp.

I only have a couple of Gary's albums, but I'm so pleased I purchased this on vinyl when it came out. 'Still Got the Blues' - Gary Moore.

I'm envying you that one Dan, although I'm not so keen on their latest album.

Last disc of this super 4-CD set, which I picked up a while back at HMV for under a tenner. This disc, Cool & Classic, collects together the likes of Paul Desmond, George Benson, Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan Jim Hall, Bob James and Hubert Laws - all of them with Ron Carter on bass.

All the recording and engineering was done by Rudy van Gelder, so you know it'll sound spiffing...

Kacey Musgrave - Pageant Material, WAV CD rip

Classy young country singer, she writes very clever lyrics giving snapshots of a segment of Southern life, has a fine band, and sings them well. This is a top-notch album.
