What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Fleetwood Mac - Mystery To Me. Vinyl, early pressing.
Starting off the day with this Fleetwood Mac album (and a vat of coffee) before I fall into the Adobe Photoshop abyss. Always an interesting album this, if not their greatest.
Slightly breaking with my chronological exploration.

Fabulous debut album by THe Eels from 1996. Such dry funny songs - Playing on Compact Disc on Dreamworks Records 1996

Hybrid - Disappear Here
Why? Because its one of my favourite albums from Hybrid, broody, moody and punchy layers of electric guitars and synths and sweeping strings accompanied in places by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, it's all good to go.
I'm enjoying listening to this on with the headphones on Steve. I see that Hybrid have quite a few other albums, what would you recommend of theirs?
Paul
Hi Paul, headphones are a good way to get into their music and of course they can be cranked up to appropriate volumes... I recommend staying with their studio albums between 1999 and 2010 and avoiding the remixes which were done to showcase other artists and didn't work for me. So, there are just three more studio albums to add to Disappear Here: Wide Angle, Morning Sci-Fi and I Choose Noise. Since 2010 they have made about six movie and games soundtracks which to be fair I haven't checked out in any depth so I might just take pot luck and have a listen to one or two.
*Edit: There is also their compilation (best of?) album Classics which will give you an idea of their other work and is a good listen.
perfect, many thanks Steve....all added to the list & another journey begins..
Santana - Caravanserai. Japanese Rock Best 100 Collection on vinyl.
This is always a fascinating melting pot of an album and somehow I never got around to doubling it up on CD, so it’s like hearing it afresh, although It could do with a clean as it’s a little crackly in places.
Great Garage Psychedelia from Texan band Yard Truma - Playing on Cassette on TDK AD X C60
Picture Book (1985) vinyl. Saw this guy mentioned on here so when I spotted it in a used shop I nabbed it. Don't know his music other than that big hit he had - Holding Back The Years which is on this. I like the groove he has got going on and SQ is very good.
Jeff Lynne - Long Wave, purchased this morning so first play.Album of cover versions that would be enjoyable if not for his usual claustrophobic style of production.

Great debut album
Double vinyl - Great stuff from the fabs.????
Just arrived in the mail, giving it a spin. I have a digital copy, I like this album a lot. Better than digital? First impression... not so sure. Edit: ooh, Shallow really stands out in SQ.
KT Tunstall - Drastic Fantastic,
Elton John - Greatest Hits 1970 - 2002 (disc 2)
CD rip.
Joan Armatrading - The Key. Vinyl, first pressing.
Way back as a stude, i was initially attracted to the album cover due to the Huntley / Muir cover illustration, a duo who were hugely influential in the late 80s and 90s. Proved a really good intro to JA!
Playing On Cassette on Maxell UR C60 - Telephone Free Landslide Victory + A good Garage Punk Surf Ska Album from 1985 by American Band Campervan Beethoven
CD reissue originally released 1969 - Great album.????
- Backing Vocals – Doris Troy
- Bass – Keith Richards
- Drums – Ginger Baker
- Guitar – Eric Clapton, George Harrison
- Keyboards, Piano, Vocals – Billy Preston
Paul McCartney - Unplugged, a limited release with a cover styled in the manner of his "Russian" album.A nice mix of covers.Beatles and solo songs to showcase as McCartney put it their "acoustic versatility"
I bought this in Sainsbury's yesterday (for nowt, using Nectar Card points) as I realise that I didn't have this pressing (got plenty of others though, on CD, BD audio, DVD, cassette and vinyl). First listen... initial impressions are - super-quiet vinyl, a big improvement on the 2011 vinyl version (and the 2003), but perhaps not as good as the EMI 100 and definitely not better than my '73 UK third press.
Still, not a bad album. I think it could do quite well for them.
Clark Terry - Color Changes
This week's album being discussed in the jazz corner thread.
Hard bop from 1965, what a great record.
Prince - 3121.
On SACD, a new arrival today. The drumming is simply amazing - has anyone ever drummed better than Jaki did on this record?
SQ is very good too, espeially on "Aumgn" - I'm hearing lots of things I've never heard before...
Free
Fire And Water - CD Rip
Edward
Saw this in the used store, and it's not really something I listen to at all. But, the music sounds pretty good for a change of pace. Near as I can tell from the label markings, it's a 1963 US issue and in surprisingly good shape presented in "Vitaphonic Stereo" (whatever that is).
