On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Alexandre Tharuad - Bach
Alexandre Tharuad plays the Italian concert and some transacriptions of Bach's music. Imo he does that very well, a joy to listen to.
Cinematic Orchestra, featuring the great Fontella Bass: All That You Give.
Ripped cd single. Wonderful double bass sound.
Tony2011 posted:ct posted:my favourite band and their newest release, been a fan since their first album and thought it was a bit niche until i saw this album (favourably) reviewed in the Sunday Times.......
CJs music have not always captivated me but this is a superb album. Very atmospheric and deeply poetic. Enjoy it!
it is quite impressive. i found myself listening to this last night, i was introduced to them when they supported the Cowboy Junkies on a tour a few years ago
Thomas Dolby - The Flat Earth: Vinyl, first pressing.
Why? Because a little Thomas Dolby eccentricity is always a good thing, and it’s one of the best sounding discs I’ve listened to in my vinyl archive catch up.
Vinyl released 2017 - signed copy from last nights Barr Brothers gig were Emma was support. A fine album..????

The story goes that Tom Wilson added drums etc. to The Sound of Silence from S&G’s first album but on this issue the version whilst still acoustic is much closer to the “folk-rock” version.

Really lovely Albioni Oboe Concertos - George F whaen he was posting here got me into this composer - Playing on Compact Disc on Naxos
Fear, by Marillion. Roll of honour for the first play on the new Nova!
George Harrison - All Things Must Pass, the remaster from 2001.
The Traveling Wilburys - Volume One. Vinyl, first pressing.
I’d simply forgotten how much fun this album is, just five talented dudes doing their thing for the sheer joy of it.
John Martyn - Live At Leeds
I have the slightly curious thought that some members of the forum may have been in the audience

Ahem.
Eric Clapton - Pilgrim, on SACD, this album has some seriously low bass.
Playing on Compact Disc on Albatross Records 2016 - Really good BBC Session of the Peter Green era Mac
On CD:-
ZZ Top - One Foot in the Blues
Now playing....................
Jan Garbarek - In Praise of Dreams
Jan Garbarek (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, synthesizers, samplers and percussion), Kim Kashkashian (viola), and Manu Katché (drums).
Streaming on NAS.......... a recent purchase from Fat Cat records, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. First listen to this album, i own a number of Jan's albums and enjoy each of them and Jan, Kim and Manu are sounding wonderful this Thursday morning!
Federico Mompou (1893-1987): Clélia Iruzun, piano
Selected Works, Volume 1
Paul Rodgers - Free Spirit.
Can't seem to stop returning to this one ............... Paul Rodgers does the Free songbook, live at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this year.
Accompanied by Deborah Bonham's fine band, this is an absolute belter for all Free fans .................. highly recommended.
TDF - Retail Therapy.
Now Playing.....................
Joe Lovano and Hank James - Kids
Joe Lovano (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone) and Hank James (piano).
Streaming on NAS.......... A recent purchase from Fat Cat Records, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. Joe's sax and Hank's piano are sounding mighty sweet this Thursday morning and I feel I am settling right in with the rest of the crowd at Dizzy's.....
An absolute Ground breaking Drum and Bass album from 1995 by Goldie - Playing on Compact Disc on Metalheadz
1982 - Vinyl - UK first (promo) pressing...
I’ve seen it mentioned on another thread and I haven’t heard in a while. I don’t have any other pressings so I cannot compare but this one is pretty good.
nothing, nowhere. - Reaper (2017). Want some sounds to exercise the low end of your system? This emo/alternative/rap dude has some, he's completely depressing though. The first two songs, Houdini and Clarity in Kerosene are two cheerful sub woofer testers. On Tidal.
1971 - Vinyl - UK first pressing...
The Police - Reggatta de Blank. Japanese vinyl pressing.
The best Police album for me, although Synchronicty runs it close. A little crackly this old timer, but the album overall sounds very good, especially the thundering bass lines on this version. Giving the little Nait2 a work out!
