On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Released 1991 - Hits the spot. ????
Lucy Ward - Pretty Warnings
Another quality release - English folk/storytelling, with crystal clear vocals and some great tunes.
Now Playing........................

Ralph Towner & Gary Burton - Slide Show
Ralph Towner (classical guitar, 12-string guitar) and Gary Burton (vibraphone, marimba).
Streaming on NAS.......... A recent purchase from Fat Cat Records, and now taking out for a spin, enjoying this duet with the guitar and vibraphone interplay working quite well, sounding mighty fine this Saturday morning!
Brad Shepik trio - Places you go.
Nice guitar-organ-drums trio with their own distinctive sound. No standards on this recording. Only own compositions by Brad Shepik.

Brad Shepik - Guitar
Gary Versace - Hammond B3
Tom Rainey - Drums
Now Playing.........................

John Cougar Mellencamp - Big Daddy
Streaming on NAS......... a recent purchase from Fat Cat Records, a 1989 release and john is sounding mighty sweet, some wonderful music and lyrics, a very enjoyable album!
Yetizone posted:What a cracking album! I've got two copies of Low (first press UK orange labels) and wondered if its worth hunting a Japanese copy over the UK release - esp given the prices now?
I've only got a handful of DB Japanese pressings - Dogs, Lets Dance and Tonight (yeah, I know, not his greatest!) and they generally seem better than my UK versions.
Yeti, I personally prefer the Japanese Bowies to many of the UK versions -I have Low, Lodger, Stage and Scary Monsters all on Japanese vinyl, and I like 'em all. The Low is especially good.

Van Morrison - Inarticulate Speech of the Heart.
Yet another space filled in my Van library, and for pennies on The River ........... and yet another fine album from Mr. Morrison.

ZZ Top - Recycler.
Having a quiet night in with the Tops. ![]()

A great 'Tops album, Dave. A lot of really good trax on this one, my favourite is probably My Heads in Mississippi played at appropriate volumes 'natch...
.

Playing disc one from this marvellous set. I was going to play Bitches Brew, but then spotted this which I haven't played for a while.

Slightly spooky, Stevee, as that's the track playing right now, and it is rather loud, since I've got both the Les Paul and the Mesa Boogie
cranked up too ................ neighbours are away, so this cat will play. ![]()
Really good compilation album of early New York Hip Hop between 1979 -1982 - Playing on Triple 180 g Vinyl on Soul Jazz Records perfect for doing the cooking too ![]()

Grimes - Art Angels
First play and first impressions are very good. SQ is excellent via Core CD rip.

ZZ Top - Tres Hombres.
Still trying my best to stay with The Reverend on my Les Paul ............. and failing miserably ............ must be a lack of talent thing! ![]()
Mind you, my "La Grange" is about 60% there.

Think I've forgotten what rain sounds like so I thought I'd play this.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Will the circle be unbroken vol. 2 on vinyl. Some big names from the country / folk world on this fantastic album - Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Roseanne Cash, John Hiatt amongst many others. Great recording too.

ABBA - Gold, WAV CD rip
i got home from a movie and a couple of drinks at about midnight last night, and flicked on the TV to relax for a few minutes before bed. BBC4 came on with ABBA, and I was stuck for 30 minutes watching. So enjoying them in higher sound quality now, damn they were good. Agnatha and Anna-Frid could both really sing, and singing together they were stunning. They wrote superb pop sings, some lovely lyrics, beautiful tunes, arrangements that showed off the superb voices, slice after slice of pure pop perfection.
Just Finishing up.......

Dave Matthews Band - Come Tomorrow
Streaming on NAS.......... A recent purchase and June release from Dave and after more than a few spins I can say that this is one fine album!
Now Playing.......

Dave Matthews Band - Away From The World
Streaming on TIDAL............ Continuing on with another of the Dave Matthews Band albums, I certainly enjoy the music. A release from 2012 and an album that I do not have in my collection......yet..... and it is sounding mighty sweet!
Cafe del Mar, Volume 4.
A perfect evening for listening to this very chilling album.

I know it’s bad form to quote one’s own post, but I've just been reminded of a great memory by the song playing now. A good while ago, maybe 2005 or so, I went to see Anne-Sofie van Otter at the Wigmore Hall. She gave a stunning recital of great Lieder, came back on for her encore, and sang Thank You For The Music. She nailed it, sang it in her trained style, but she had swing and joy and really got the heart of the song, I’m pretty sure some of the older end of the audience would never have heard it before, but for me it’s one of my greatest musical memories.
96khz/24 bit PCM stereo on Blu-ray, from last year's marvellous anniversary set. Sounds great, lots of detail, etc but just hasn't got that vinyl magic...

Liam's recent tweet prompted me to find and rip the CD to my Core.
Now giving it the beans as SWMBO is out! Sweet.
A cracking debut that unfortunately they never bettered but still it remains a classic of it's time and of course best played very, very loud.

Love that album and I think it is her best.
Yes Mike, I agree, it seems to be the one I still play the most.

Jeff Lynne - Long Wave, a second play after purchasing earlier in the week.
