Released 1996 - Garrett creates a loving tribute, one that is respectful to Coltrane's legacy but one that doesn't mimic his sound. Great album..????
On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are you Experienced, Early ‘80s vinyl
From Easy Rider, so many great bands/musicians I could move to, this is a desert island disc for me, and I haven’t listened for a while. Jimi re-invents rock and blues guitar, the songs are great, fine tunes played superbly by the great musicians, sung well.
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, early ‘80s vinyl
Having tea and cake with a friend this afternoon outside a cafe in a covered arcade, she suddenly interrupted the conversation to note that the band playing further down was playing WYWH, her favourite Floyd song. Another desert island disc for me, so last album before bed, classy beautiful rock songs.
Vinyl released 1983 - Some great tracks on this OST. ????

A classic for sure, used to have the posters that came with the original up on my bedroom wall, one was a blue tinted pyramid if I remember correctly or was that Darkside? I can’t remember. Also another bit of trivia, I read recently they actually set the guy on fire in the photo as it was long before photoshop obviously, he was a stuntman and the suit and wig were made out of a fire proof material, apparently they only literally had seconds to take the shot otherwise he would have been toast!

Just received this morning from Amazon, the group America, first five albums in the original recording series for £9.99 on cd. Some great music, Tin man, Ventura highway, Sister Goldenhair and many more.
Joan as Police Woman - Damned Devotion. I bought her album Real Life around 12 years ago as I loved the track The Ride, but the album overall didn't grab me that much. Heard a few tracks off this, her new album, and I like this a lot.
Perhaps not the coolest music, but fun on a warm Sunday morning
Eric Alexander - The first milestone
Very nice post-bop jazz by Eric Alexander.
