What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Crumbs Leon - how tall are you? I'd struggle to put an LP on something that high
The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
Semi-fractious company over a family weekend, a barking dog, not enough sleep, too much alcohol, traffic beyond measure in the rain on the way home. The antidote.
The Notting Hillbillies - Missing....Presumed Having a Good Time.Great album with the vocal talents of Knopfler,Steve Philips and Brendan Croker adding variety to the material.
I have just heard of Tomasz Stanko's death, on R4 news.
Vassilis Tsabropoulos - Akroasis
I've chosen this as a tribute. RIP
CD. Shostakovich - Sonata for Viola and Piano in C Major Op. 147 - Gérard Caussé - Brigitte Engerer
Also includes works from Glazunov, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov for the same instruments.

Used to love the Eurythmics in the 80's but eventually got a bit bored of them thinking they were a bit too 'right on' and trendy.
Some of the songs don't inspire me as much as they originally did for some reason but they were one of the most innovative synth based groups in the UK and Annie's superlative voice reminds me of Grace Jones in several songs here.
Oddly you find with some albums that it's the non-charters/non-releases that you really enjoy - No Fear, No Hate, No Pain (No Broken Hearts) being an example.
I have it on original vinyl somewhere - perhaps it's the weather that made me buy the album again - 'Here Comes The Rain Again' being particularly apt after the dry spell.
Van Morrison and Joey Defrancesco - You're Driving Me Crazy, just the third play after purchasing this week. Its pretty good if a tad too long at over an hour .

The Doors debut album sounding wonderful on this 50th anniversary hi-res remaster in Mono. If the next 50th anniversary remasters are as good then we are all in for a real treat.

Nice album with mainly relaxing songs.
My favourite Michael Franks album.
Based on seeing this previously here on the forum, I bought it from overseas and it finally arrived this past week:
And for some reason, I just love this album cover...
Vinyl released 2009 - Great stuff from Gurtu one of his best albums. ????

What a nice guy, and a great player. We saw him at a house gig last year, sitting about four feet away, and had a good chat.
He is a genuine bluesman - never had the priviledge of meeting him but pleased by your comment as that is what exudes from his playing. Thanks.
Doug is the dog's doo-dah's. Brilliant bluesman. Great guitar player. Comes over as a truly charming guy. And very funny too.
I have all his CD's from his 1994 disc "Come To Find" onwards. All brilliant. They are also audiophile heaven. The early discs were superbly recorded by AudioQuest (yes, the cables people), later discs were recorded by Black and Tan and by Reference Recordings (the well-known audiophile label based in San Francisco).
I strongly recommend the XRCD versions of the AudioQuest discs "Come To Find" and " You Can't Take My Blues". Stunning.
Nice Spanish Guitar compilitation to help the Monday morning work blues - Sounding enchanting on the simple office system - Playing on Compact Disc on Naxos
